Roberts a tough draw early but like they say shouldn't base a decision on whether is an easy or hard draw haha

He did look very good in that trial. Though Manly rested their star players.

From a fantasy perspective we'd get a clearer idea of the pecking-order pre-season...

(* I do have an idea. It's conservativism and dumbness)
Might make things less clear at TLT. We don't have a 12 jersey with his name on it, so we will name him at 17

Realised I posted this in the wrong thread.

Interesting exercise I've started doing, selecting Edge and Middle forwards on the nrl fantasy app and going through team by team. Could be just as easily done by looking through team lists when they're out, but basically trying to figure out which teams might have some opportunities for under priced forwards.

Thoughts? Having a quick look this morning:

    Dragons
    Broncos
    Dogs
    Tigers
Storm (but we've discussed this quite a bit on here already)

Surprising thing about Roberts is his defensive stats as a centre. High teens in tackles with very few misses every week.

I dont really consider draws but i guess you could look at who he'd be up against

    raiders - timoko/kris/croker + simonsson
    roosters - jmoz tupou
knights - best .. who's their left wing?
    eels - opacic sivo
cowboys - don't really know who will be their left edge.

probably enough opportunities for points there

the thing that struck me most about the trial is that he looked hungry again.

when he was like that at the broncos you knew you were going to get good things from him. hopefully he can stay focussed on footy because he's one of those guys who is great to watch.

You just name 13 people in the team, four on the bench, and however many reserves. It doesn't matter what their squad numbers are, TLT is the same.

Every other sport/country in the world manages this without any drama. They have their own squad numbers which are named at the start of the season, and reflect likely squad status (as in soccer worldwide, as well as ESL), but if Ponga wants to wear 23 for the year because people will buy Ponga 23 shirts then that's fine as well.

The injury news on Cust doesn’t help him though, I thought Cust was looking ok in the hooker role until he got injured.
Croker being injury prone doesnt make him any more appealing

    Howdy Y'all,

Averillo seems like a no-brainer if starting because no-one wants to really spend much on CTRs, but any one else really starting to wonder where his points are going to come from? Its a very small sample of 2 games, but only kicked for 63m & 10m in his two starts. One game had 2 TAs, the other 4 goals (almost a quarter of 34 total points). Not a great tackling efficiency; for every 5 tackles he's missed 1. Flanagan will surely take bulk kicking and GK-ing. Priced at 23, so he actually needs to do a fair bit each game if he's not kicking to prove a decent cow and make that 10-point jump. He's not the worst risk, but I've still got nightmares from the Brandon Wakeham gamble from last year. I haven't seen much of him as a player because I didn't pick him up for the 2020 Averillo-coaster, but apparently his running game and speed are his assets. Are a new coach and a few signings enough to unlock this? Also, I hear he doesn't like bold flavours like mango-lime salsa.

i think there is a reason though why both league and union haven't strayed from keeping the numbers = positions thing. its more unique than other sports in the way that its straight line v straight line moving up and down the field.

obviously nfl is similar but the game starts every play the same way.

Averillo, Roberts, Niu with Momirovski or Bird as the 4th

Could always play them on match ups week to week till they get injured.. or dropped lol

I still don't see a difference if a centre is wearing 12 that week, or a half is 27 because it's someone who's broken through. Especially if they have their names on their backs.

Super League does it and squad numbers act as a kind of reward. The kid who was 25 last season and has been impressive might be "promoted" to 18. Also acts as a good pre-season fantasy indicator.

Then there are the stories you can spin around the season. Fogarty no 28 ends up as the club's premier half. And then there are the sales... how many kids in Europe/US do you see with a Messi 10 shirt, or LeBron 6 (or 23)?

Anyway, we're a bit away from fantasy so I'll shut up now.

It would feel like i'm playing SC if i go a million centres. Think i better stick to having a million hookers so it stays feeling like Fantasy.
