Super League does it and squad numbers act as a kind of reward. The kid who was 25 last season and has been impressive might be "promoted" to 18. Also acts as a good fantasy indicator.
Then there are the stories you can spin around the season. Fogarty no 28 ends up as the club's premier half. And then there are the sales...
Anyway, we're a bit away from fantasy so I'll shut up now.
i'm not against it. just pondering. probably stayed the same way so commentators have it easier. if they changed to personalised numbers then maybe they'd have to do some actual preparation
