As has been mentioned, basically every other sport does it with fixed numbers per player, why can't league.
When Jake Simpkin comes off the bench to replace Jacob Liddle, are Tigers fans going to be confused as to who is hooker?
If the guy standing close to the sideline in attack and defense is wearing number 22, are people going to be confused about what position he is playing?
