    Agreed re Matterson, but I would say DFif is certainly going to be worth spending the extra 200k over Capewell and I dont think the squad balance benefits from having another Edge worth 500k in the team

    I have Fifita and Crichton as well. Some really good value on the edge as usual.

    Making me think I can wait on Papy to hopefully drop some cash. Eyeing a Hoy to papy play round 4/5 hopefully for circa $150k

    That's asking for a lot.

    If Hoy strings together 5 week's of 40s (and I think that might be an optimistic average for him) he's still $200k below Papy's starting price.

    Assuming Papy retains goalkicking for all 5 weeks, he'd need a big drop in last year's average in order to narrow the gap.

    Its possible they could be within $150k after 5 weeks, but its asking for a lot.

    I quite like Capewell - more as a gut feel than anything tangible;
    - While encouraging, I don't want to read too much into the 4 starts on the edge last year
    - I don't want to read too much into his edge performances prior to last year (I thought he just looked like he'd become a much better player last year - at club level, then at Origin level).

    What I'm less keen on;
    - Awkward price & loss of DPP
    - Coming off two injuries last year (and exactly how many players coming back from injury do I really want to run).

    BUT, if I was going for a filthy mid-ranger edge, Capewell might be my guy.

    After returning from injury last year Capewell played

    Interchange, out of 17, Interchange, 2nd row, Interchange, 2nd row, Interchange

    His 2 starts came when Kikau missed the 17, but Liam Martin was never benched for him.
    Maybe that will change in the 2021 season, but it's a bit of a risk.

    If he was selectable in CTR again, maybe I'd take that risk. But safer options around at EDG

    Anyone had a decent look at Ofa? Seems just too expensive for me.

    Looking at his average playing prop over the years:

    2018: 35.8 over 43.5 minutes (4 games)
    2019: 35.7 over 45.7 minutes (6 games)
    2020: 42.3 over 54.3 minutes (4 games)
    Total: 37.93 over 47.83 minutes

    If we go a bit more of a broader look at his ppg over his career playing between 40 and 60 minutes (what he looks like doing at the Tigers) this is what we get:

    2018: 43.3 over 49.5 minutes (Prop, Lock, Int)
    2019: 41.8 over 46.7 minutes (Prop, Lock, Int)
    2020: 38.2 over 51.5 minutes (Prop, Lock, Int)
    TOTAL: 41.1 over 49.23 minutes

    He is priced at 31 and just had the usual fluff piece on NRL.com about how he has found his hunger again. Probably looking like a stay clear for me.

    If he was going to be the #1 prop i'd probably be more interested. Tamou being captain probably means that Ofa is the first interchange. Depending on gameflow/etc that could be around 20th ish minute..

    He's still priced in that awkward range, without much upside in his game. Would need to play 55 mins for me to consider.

    One of the major issues I see with loading up on 'Super Cows' ($600 - $700 with $20k either way) is that they often perform well points wise but whether they perform well enough to make the jump up to keeper is another question entirely.

    You could easily find yourself with a bunch of dudes who punch out 50 ish each week, propping up your points tally but not really doing enough to be an end of season keeper and not really being enough of a problem to make upgrading/downgrading them a priority (other fires to put out and all that).

    You need to back your instinct/the stats on a couple of them but don't expect all of these guys to take the step up. In pre-season everyone hypothetically maximises their potential and takes advantage of extra minutes, changes in role etc but we always forget about the guys like Havilli, Luis, Glenn, Tolman, Bromwich etc who the coach loves but often spoil the fantasy party.

    TLDR; Guns, cows & sure things....don't get stuck with a team full of 'nearly' men

    Dearden/Croft update:

    Ben Davis
    @BenDavis74
    Halfback intrigue continues  @brisbanebroncos  - Dearden back teaming up with Milford .. after Croft spent majority of last session there @7NewsBrisbane

    *has a video from training to confirm the above*

    Chris Garry
    @ChrisGarry7
    Walters told Dearden on Tuesday he could be playing for Souths Logan this Saturday in a trial or for the Broncos in rd 1. Kev playing mind games with halves early. Dangerous with multiple clubs ready to pay big for Dearden.

    ^ i dont see anything wrong with challenging him (or anyone) to be better and earn their spot in round 1. Dearden doesn't have a mortgage on the 7 jumper

    Agree... Nothing wrong with showing a 19/20 year old - hey you aren't just walking into this position, there are dudes behind you who can fill that void so he has to work for it.

    Look at Cows.... for all we know Payten could be saying to Val hey just cause you're on 1 mil a year doesn't mean you walk straight into that FB role.
