TO RESTORE EVERYONE'S FAITH IN TURPIN
As far as we know the Broncos bench shows Turpin is set for an 80 minute roll (unless Glenn or Asiata find themselves filling in for a bit) but at worst it'll be 55-65 minutes, if that's the case.
Let's start off with at worst - In Turpin’s 55-65 minute games at hooker over his career is 44.75 (4 games). Note that this average includes scores of 52 and 47 in 55-65 minute games with the new 2020 rules.
Best cast scenario (80 minutes) – Turpin averages 59.7 (3 games, also including 1 try) when playing 80 minutes at hooker. This average includes a 62 in the new 2020 rules where he made 64 tackles with 3 missed and 0 attacking stats.
Turpin’s average (hooker) since the rule changes (R3 onwards) but not including R14 where he played 30 minutes and got injured is 53.67.
According to the numbers his average will probably sit around 45 to 60. Hopefully; with some improvement to the Broncos, he won’t be required to make 64 tackles a game and can find some attacking stats in the mix.
For someone who’s BE is 40, has no origin and plays the first bye, he at absolute… ABSOLUTE worst makes a tiny bit of coin and can sit on your bench (assuming someone like Brailey/Liddle are outperforming him) until he needs to be traded out.
Best case scenario he is pushing 55+, makes a bucket load of coin and can sit on your bench all year or be a swap to Cook after Origin.
TL;DR – Don’t get cold feet on Turps. His BE is low and looks to be playing 80 minutes.
