Hutchinson did most of the kicking but I think that was more about giving the kid less to think about on his debut. Apparently when they've played together in ressies Walker has been main kicker

To that end, Hutchison also took the first goalkick with SST off but hit it like a drunk uncle at a wedding and Walker got the next one.

He was just not getting much ball where it mattered for fantasy purposes so he had to live off the scraps & the Bulldogs don't have very tasty scraps. Maybe he's better at ctr with more space to exploit his pace so they should drop Hoppa who looks past it to make it happen.

I disagree that he's a very good footballer, he hasn't shown much at all at NRL level. It's tough to judge considering how bad the Bulldogs are but I don't see him making a career in the NRL. I think he's the type of player that will be off to Super League at the end of his contract.

This of course is just my opinion and doesn't mean you're wrong obviously. Just doesn't pass the Honeysett eye test.

    Been on the cans much?

Walker had 140 odd vs Hutchison’s 160 odd. 30 elsewhere so not much kicking by the Roosters.

Hutchison kicked early game whilst Walker found his feet, but then Walker kicked more as the game progressed. I wouldn’t count on him dominating the kicking but he should take at least half, and I reckon possibly a bit more moving forward. Especially the short stuff where he is a chance of a FDO or TA.

With 21 man squads purposely holding loop is bad strategy IMO. See R3 with Cleary and Pap out, and bam you're down to one fit EMG with Hoy also. May not even be right position so could be down to 16 players

If you're so desperate for loop why not go Hoy to Verrills if you think he gets 9 soon and then you at least get some money ITB that you can use rather than having dead cash

I swear this is out of proportion. He made one comment regarding a defensive lapse. Reduced minutes makes sense if he wants high intensity for shorter stints. Has worked well for other players

It's Wednesday morning and in work, so just the single can to wake me up fella!

I stuffed the trade up last week, so not sure why I've been deliberating about it so much this week, especially after a healthy 44 on debut

Completely disagree on how he went about it and then Lolo making public announcements saying there's things he needs to work on etc

Don't worry about the 300 RM a game big fella, as long as you have the gas to get square at marker for the next set, you'll be right.

To run in shorter stints he should be playing prop. The issue in round 1 wasnt his minutes, it was his lack of involvement. Don't make 23 tackles and run for 73 meters. Should be making 30+ tackles and running for 150-200+ meters each week

I didn’t trade him in last week either, wanted to see how he went given his age / size.

He looked pretty good, although he did appear to hurt his shoulder at some point in a heavy tackle and that is a bit of a concern. He will get targeted and remains to be seen how that goes. Looks so young and small out there amongst the big boppers but didn’t look over awed and put his body on the line.

Seems to have the ‘time’ that all the good halves have. Didn’t look rushed with his decisions and was composed.

Edit: IMO of course and may differ to others!

Jurbo would have to be a contender to be dropped, currently there on reputation, certainly not on form.

    Coming back to this

I reckon he'd be better suited at prop. He basically just runs and tackles. He's kinda stopped being a link man in recent times (moreso for Origin, Manly don't really have a replacement lock)

Agree, they don't need an 80 minute plodder lock in Origin. They need high impact players for shorter periods.

I think Jurbo probably will be prop, given he won't be dropped whatever his form.

I agree with the others - he's shown flashes when the dogs were on the front foot at times last year.
Haven't seen it this year. We can't expect every 20 year old rookie half to be a world beater when they're in a dogshit team.

I agree the reaction is disproportionate to what he actually said - but that's part of the job as a coach - choose your words carefully (look at Ricky Stuart over the years).

I don't have a problem so much with what he said (in principle he's probably not wrong - it's just a tweak in his game play really), but it should've been said directly to Taumalolo behind closed doors, not in the media - that's no place to call out a player. It came across as a little bit of an Alpha dog move... (which they probably don't need after Paul Green)

As others have mentioned, I thought he showed really good signs as a centre last year. I would play him at centre over Corey Allan or Hopoate any day of any week, personally, but I am not a coach. Put Allan or Hopoate on the wing in Katoa's place and things are already looking up.

    In, my opinion... of course.

I am Welshy. I am not 100% confident but I need cash gen and a playable 14-17, or quality 18th man.

I think there is more risk in not getting him so I’m jumping on.
