Taking into account media, comments from Freddie and Joey these are how I see players in contention for NSW currently ranked. Very much opinion based and reading between the lines. Obviously some changes to come with injuries/suspension etc

Worth looping with uncertainty on Hynes/Papenhuyzen or just play Teddy??
Funny what the world has come to when Teddy is a loop option at WFB. Personally, couldn't bring myself to leave him out. And surely there is a risk that Papy comes in but Hynes stays on the bench and plays a few minutes in one of the spine positions?

The A team looks pretty right to me. Lomax's injury probably means Wighton at CTR (I'm not sure if there's a left and right side issue, but assuming not). I think Radley has a game made for Origin, but not 100% convinced he gets in ahead of Yeo.

QLD isn’t going to know wtf is going on if there’s Cook sniffing around the ruck, radley 1st receiver, and Wighton and Cleary either side of the ruck

A looks the goods... do see it hard leaving Yeo out too.

If you aren't going to be playing Teddy you probably need to trade him.
With no confirmed red dots I'd personally play it straight up. Papy, Teddy, To'o and flip a coin for Hynes/Laurie if Papy doesn't play

They mentioned Lane the other day. Probably as a bench option.

Smoke and mirrors on Lane. Even at his own club Paulo, RCG, Brown, Matterson and Papali'i are better than him

If Yeo isn't looking like playing Origin, might as well cut losses now with Leniu.

If Simpkin and Stefano are confirmed out in the first game this week then I’m indulging in some benchwankery

Seems about right to me.
I'd still be surprised if Turbo isn't named as a Centre - he last played there in games 2 & 3 in 2019 (both NSW wins) and I'm sure I heard Freddy lament not having him available at Centre following last years series loss.
Andrew Johns recently said that he would play Cameron Murray on an edge but the South Sydney lock is sidelined with an ankle injury which could keep him out of the opening game.
“There was an indication Cam would be back in round 13 initially, but you never know with that sort of stuff,” Fittler said.
“There’s a few back-rowers down, that’s where we're a bit short at the moment. We’re hoping they come back, but there’s some back-rowers out there who can play themselves into a spot.”
It's kind've interesting that even with Frizell & Crichton that they consider themselves a bit short in back-rowers - maybe there is a real possibility of a Martin/Matterson/TPJ bolter if Murray ends up unavailable.

Don't quite get how Martin has come into calculations

I think he seems pretty likely.
Freddy has already said in a tongue and cheek way that he will select "Heaps" of Panthers.
In reality, the Panthers are so dominant at the moment it's hard to imagine them not having a presence.
It would be pretty weird if they only managed to get Cleary or Cleary & Luai in. I suspect maybe as many as 4 or 5 players.
Just thinking about the Panthers team, previous roles in NSW squad and media bites;
CERTAINTY: Cleary
INCUMBENT: Yeo
2020 SERIES SQUAD: Luai, Crichton
2021 POTENTIAL INS: To'o, Burton, Martin

I see Turbo playing a similar role to what Hayne used to for NSW. That is, he is first picked among the back 5 but fills whatever the weakest spot is. That's either going to be right centre or right wing
TPJ is a lot closer than most think, but I believe Yeo, Finucane would be first to come into the pack if there was any injuries

I think both are confidence players you want when they're feeling invincible. Hard for Jack to have that state of mind playing for us right now. I'd choose Luai, though that wouldn't have been my answer a few weeks back.rhinoceroo wrote:
I really don't know between Wighton and Luai, depends how seriously they.take club combinations. I'd go Wighton, personally.

Prototypical origin back rower IMO
Runs great lines, runs hard tackles hard. Can do a little bit with the ball

Leota has also been mentioned as a sneaky in from the likes of Sterlo. Is in better form than he was last year when his name was thrown around

I'm 99% sure Jack played both sides for us in a pinch back when he first came into grade and we had some problems, but he's a left side player normally, you can even see him favour it in his halves/fb play. After he was found out a bit last year (and as i mentioned could be down on a bit of confidence this year) I would be weary. That said I'm confident we are gonna roll you rabble anyway, regardless of who you play there or in the halves.Jele wrote:
