If also point out it is hardly the refs fault. I don't think they wanted these rules thrust upon them.
They've only had a couple of days to work out how to implement them. It's not surprising they've made controversial decisions. It was only predicted by everyone that this would happen

if the weekend is like this, fair chance all the stoppages and pot-luck sinbins cause low scores across the board*, thinking I'm gonna hold off on any big moves this week.
*don't worry Cleary owners, he'll still find his way to his customary 90-odd

Thinking common sense and fan backlash will mean the NRL find some middle ground. And as Honeysett said, why the fuck do this in Magic Round.
For me if they want to sort this out then they need to punish the reckless and intentional more harshly and consistently, both during play and then afterwards at the judiciary. Continue to treat the accidental ones as they always have.
Surely they cant changed their tune half way through a round though? Cant have 4 teams play under them and go oh dear better make it more fair for the others
I don't mean over this Round mate; over the next few, similar to that general penalty crackdown in 2018 or whenever it was that took a couple of Rounds to dissipate. Although also wouldn't be surprised if an edict went out tonight or tomorrow night knowing how reactive we are!

Had a good chuckle at this one.
Haven't read through every comment, and I was a bit too agitated to pay full attention tonight, but did I see correctly that for the entire time Gamble was off, Milf did literally not touch the ball one single time? That actually happened, didn't it? Not all individually his fault because I don't think the Broncos collectively had the ball in those 10 mins, but yowser.
Wouldn't be surprised to see him dropped again next week anyway, but it's going to take some big incidents to keep Milf off the chopping block for my team next week. Can't deal with that any more. Isaako almost as urgent too. If I'm not mistaken, about 26 of his 36 points came from that try? Dude absolutely just can't score Fantasy points without tries.
Elsewhere, very happy with Turbo's score. $$ H2H captained him so I was happy to see him score nicely, but not off the charts. Everyone's a winner.
Schuster slowly becoming one of my favourite players in the NRL to watch. Been a bit plodding for the last couple of weeks, but can't wait to see him play a few weeks at five eighth. Really, really like the kid as a footballer.
Haas, as one of my premium uniques is really going to hurt this week, I dare say.
I assume this was discussed, but mind blown over the Turpin situation. Yeah, he had a bad patch but you make the dude captain and then hook him in the first half, and that's it for the match? Classic Kevin Walters?
Regarding first match, before the carnage this week I'd traded out Brooks (higher value than Milf and Isaako for desired trade) so I'm a little grateful with how the week's trades turned out. Hopefully Tigers line up like that again next week, so I can cleanse my team of Broncos and hold Brooks another week. Kind of harmonious that both Doueihi and Brooks owners could share joy tonight.

I wouldn't worry too much about subs in the Broncos match. Game was well and truly decided with 20 to go, and subs were made accordingly. Can suck for fantasy but no point flogging people needlessly

Reading through the comments here tonight, plenty of people putting the NRL and/or the refs in the crosshairs, not many saying Manly played well.

No one denied the fact manly played a great game lol. Just a shame it was overshadowed by a lack of refereeing capability mate.
Credit to manly though they blew us off the park but the whole night's talking point was the bizarre refereeing...

I don't like losing but I will still watch to the end or sit in the stands to the 80th minute of every game....but not tonight - that wasn't a contest and that certainly wasn't sport.
The NRL chiefs are falling into the desk-jockey category now. Anyone who's been on a building site in the last 5 years will know about the guys who sit in the air-conditioned sheds making rule after rule, until the tradies end up walking around in NASA space suits in 40 degree heat. That's what we have here, if they dont change the rules every couple of weeks, what are they getting paid for?
That's why we have this debacle, and the blowout scorelines.

How long will it last though?Snatchpato wrote:By the way all these comments blowing up about sin-binnings for head-high tackles is kinda coming across as y'all claiming head contact is no big deal. Seemlingly innocuous contact to the head can cause significant injury, so it's completely understandable that the NRL has decided to crack down on it. It's not the 90s anymore, and the culture these days is much more "soft" than it used to be, but it's all with the intention of protecting the players, and that's not a bad thing.
It shouldn't be a big deal, and certainly shouldn't be controversial.
*in my opinion*
Come end of year in big games I think they’ll change their tune!
