I don't like losing but I will still watch to the end or sit in the stands to the 80th minute of every game....but not tonight - that wasn't a contest and that certainly wasn't sport.
In fact, it was akin to watching a boxing referee tie the hands of a bloke already getting well and truly belted.
And please spare me the absolute dribble about protecting players and that these crack downs shouldn't be controversial anymore.
That's the sort of illogical nonsense we have accepted for far too long, which has got us into this situation.
After Riki was binned, I watched (my players BTW) innocuously - but still technically come into contact with the head of a bloke in every single tackle of the following set.
Every. Single. Tackle.
It was the exact same minor force but by the letter of the law, all these blokes should have been binned too.
So where is the uproar there?
I have no qualms with protecting players where we can but it has to be so far as is reasonably practicable.
If we are going to ruin the sporting contest, we can't be in no man's land like we are.
Minor incidental head contact is either accepted as a reasonable risk when entering the field of play, or all situations where a head can be contacted (i.e. every tackle) should be eliminated.
Like this summation, as well as WL's challenge to make a game 0 v 13, i dare them.
This is on the back of many changes that the Nrl and part-time fans think the loyal fans will always accept and adjust to. It's a totally different thing though, when like me and sounds like Oz, it isn't a stance or choice you are taking against the rule changes, it is the fact you actually are not enjoying the product as much anymore. Peoples all time fave, nothing gets in the way of, cancel all other plans for.. ur safe place pastime has been eroded to another 'version' of a sport. Keep it up, watch it fall away. You cannot call a game Rugby League if it has been torn down and turned into something else. If you don't get peoples frustration, you never got it in the first place.
I'm off on a BBQ boat/cruise today around Brisbane waters.... I declined the invite 3 months ago knowing what round of Nrl was on this weekend, but begged for entry this morning ! Who woulda..... If i don't post later today, it means I'm 13 in and h2h with a bull shark. Someone pm me the Sharks v Rabbits result. I have Bunnies 20+
Enjoy the day brethren
