I read earlier in the week it would be Hoy out, but not specifically mentioned in the tweet I saw just earlier.

Burton would have to be useful for other weeks as well if I am spending money to bring him in. And his non-try scoring doesn't seem all that crash hot

Useful for other weeks like the next two where I'll get zero otherwise? I don't mind it.

He's been know to score 60s/70s/80s when filling in the Halves without Cleary. The whole discussion I had with MS yesterday was whether it was worth two trades to go origin gun > rd13 gun > rd17 gun for 120 odd points. It's the same thing here essentially. I wouldn't normally even consider bye round trading centres except he won't be playing centre (normally that sort of thing is hard to predict but he's as nailed on as they come for 7. Burton in rd13)

He plugs a gap in the centre for the next two weeks and possibly big scores in rd 13 and 14 (although personally I think Cleary plays every game he is available for). After that make a decision as to whether you hold for the year or trade to a rd17 centre. It's not the worst plan. Would suck massive dicks though if he's a late out on Sunday.

Warriors have re-signed Taniela Otukolo (18 year old hooker who has featured in the 21 this year) through to 2024.
Must have high expectations of him.

Well are the people bringing in all 3 of Koro, Macca, Mahoney going to hold all 3 for the year? My understanding was that plenty of people do just trade in players for bye round numbers. In this case Burton solves two issues. a) I need a centre for 2 weeks, and b) he's nailed on for a 40 at worst case scenario in R13.

Depends if you want to spend that much on a backup ctr

My other choice is Manu, so yeah I'm okay with the outlay.

I'll probably have two of those guys to go with my other rd13 players. I fully expect a couple/few of the 13 or so rd13 players to get injured, dropped, suspended or rested over the origin period and they can be the ones to make way for the rd17 guns.

I'm trading in all 3 but probably won't hold all 3 for the year. Haven't looked at who to trade out to grab round 17 guns yet but these guys fill 3 roles. They score bulk points in the all important first bye round, they are under priced due to injury so they make a bit of cash and they are playable in a competitive 17 all year if you hang on to them. Completely different from trading in your Shaun Lane/Kevin Proctor type players just for a warm body in round 13

I feel a Manu double against the Bronx this weekend Twisted Evil

It will piss me off incredibly if I get Burton in for Momo - then Burton gets dropped for Momo. Unlikely scenario but it could still eventuate. Burton has been playing well but Momo is a great player as well. Kinda feel bad for him being to a few clubs and always being pushed out - Eels should go hard for him as their right CTR and fire Waqa into the sun

Was reflecting on it, and is CTR really that bad?

It’s an unreliable/low scoring position, but in terms of carnage it only feels worse because (a) nobody wants to waste trades/money at CTR, and (b) by not wanting to waste trades/money at CTR we end up picking less secure/cheaper players and contribute further to wasting trades/money at CTR. It’s self inflicted to a degree.

In the top 15 scoring players this year (by average), 4 have played every game
In the top 15 scoring CTRs this year, its... 4. Down to 3 after this week with Peachey but not a crazy number.

If you went 2 of Peachey/Averillo/Bird from the start you’ve done as well as you would have in any position IMO. It just feels worse when they have a 1-2 week out, compared to Cleary/Papy/Fifita/Harris etc who are easier to either hold or trade depending on setup when they have missed games

But you shouldn’t care anyway because that’s the deliberate strategy with CTRs

In conclusion just get Crichton or Kelly and stop spending 20 pages on it. That’s my TED talk.

Bean : A bean is the seed of one of several genera of the flowering plant family Fabaceae, which are used as vegetables for human or animal food. They can be cooked in many different ways, including boiling, frying, and baking, and are used in many traditional dishes throughout the world

I'll probably miss one or two of those No.9's but yes I'd hold them. Mahoney is a genuine gun, Macca won't get huge 70+ scores often but he'll get you 50+ every week for less than 700k. Koro hasn't got the gun scores yet but if you traded him in you'd do so as a keeper not for the sake of one bye round score.
