As a coach you only get a few blow ups a year before the players just stop caring. It works for Bellamy because he does it once or twice a year AND has already earned the respect of the playing group who would run through brick walls for him. O'Brien has missed step 2 and going straight to step 1

Walsh has had his fun. He was coming on after 30 mins all fresh and full of beans. Now that he's starting he'll get into the grind and slow up his scoring. 30's from here.

A really great defensive team like the Tigers will shut him down with ease Twisted Evil Beer Beer

I think Starling, while juicy, might be a bit of a trap. He scores super well when playing good minutes, but the Raiders are few losses away from Ricky sticking him back on the pine and slapping Hodgo back in.

Walsh is almost the opposite. RTS, Brown, and the fans all love him. They're going out of their way to fit him in, and he's delivered on the big stage to stake his claim. I don't see him leaving the team and with that talent at $406k I don't think he can be passed up.

If you have to choose between the two, I think you go Walsh. Despite my caution with Starling though, I'm going both this week.

At Magic Round I was like, nope, fuck it, Starling comes in this week. Brought him in on Monday.

Reversed that yesterday.  If he keeps scoring 50's I'll grab him after round 13.

Picked up a round 13 player instead of Starling this week (Koro). We know Koro has big scores in him, I hope he can produce one in the next couple of weeks. I think the logic makes sense to go the round 13 "gun" over Starling right now.

If anything, that says you need more MID and EDGs to provide cover (two of the HLF sin-binnings were nothing last minute things for holding down).

If anything it says NRL players, in particular forwards aren't exactly blessed in the brains department

Im still thinking Watson to Starling rd 14. With RTS on the wing ive dumped him for Teddy so ive already traded a non rd 13 player so Starling will have to wait

They make more tackles, more of them are going to be high.

It's tricky, because it kind of boosts the value of WFBs, HKRs and HLFs, but not to the extent you can run without forward cover.

Good chat boys!  I think back to my initial thoughts for the week.  Now, I wanted Starling last week but went Matto, which was fine, no regrets there.  As soon as Walsh played my thoughts were to bring him in.  After he was benched my thoughts were to get a centre and Kelly playing round 13 was looking likely.  I flipped to Starling recently but it was for someone like MBye to enable the funds.  I think Walsh and Kelly is the better play and Starling can come in round 14.  Kelly good enough to sit in the centres all year and SHOULD score better than MBye and Walsh I kind of agree, he almost looks like a must have.  He could destroy the Tigers too.  Raiders have Storm and Chooks next two weeks so have time to see if Starling is gun level.

Could go MBye over Kelly and pocket like 150K, but that feels gross.  Having Kelly for 13 over MBye feels like a more solid extra number also.

I like Hynes but can't afford Hynes and Kelly.  Don't have the trades to have to worry about getting Hynes back out either.

If I also could afford Walsh and Starling and play with 16, I'd probably do that.

Scary thing with this kid is that it looks like he's built for fantasy, loves a TB.

Just on this point, I have always wondered why I can sometimes see who a coach in my league has traded in before that player has played?

Hynes vs Walsh is probably a decision I should be trying to make today. But I’m heavily swayed by the first bye so there’s a low chance I’m changing my mind.

This will really be put to the test closer to kick off, I can see Walsh scoring 50 quite easily without a try

Pretty strange trade with O'Niell and HTF due back from injury in a week or two.
