this game has to change next year, if players of a video game that revolved around differing decisions and playstyles discovered a strategy that turned out to be the only way to play if you want to win because it makes the biggest decisions completely irrelevant, the developers would be patching it with the quickness.

I think it is just going through the motions, doing the basics of the position. Takes much more fitness to play as an involved, attacking fullback.

in this context it is, because of the captain rule, people in the past have their own strategies on how they select their captain from week-to-week, but if there's only one unequivocally unquestionable option to use the captain rule on, that kills any and all other strategies surrounding the captain mechanic, which is arguably the most important mechanic in Fantasy.

If you want to change the game just to nerf Cleary, there's little you can do that doesn't impact everyone else.

Reduce kick metres, then all halves now suck, but Cleary will still be good.
Reduce tries and try assist points? Cleary is not even that dominant (before last week he had 2 tries all year)
No goal kicking points? That won't be fun.

You could completely redesign the scoring, and plenty of ways to do that, but then it will be a different game

They definitely need to change next year, but it around squad sizes and available trades, rather than reducing how many points Cleary scores. It is much less fun when every week it is a struggle just to field 17 players
