You could completely redesign the scoring, and plenty of ways to do that, but then it will be a different game

They definitely need to change next year, but it around squad sizes and available trades, rather than reducing how many points Cleary scores. It is much less fun when every week it is a struggle just to field 17 players

is it so terribly awful that halves might take a point hit? i mean it not like we can avoid positions, we all have to pick 2 HLF and have a back-up or 2 in case of injury, does it really matter so much if they all average a few points less? i'd sooner have that than have the main mechanic of the game made completely irrelevant.

This video game analogy makes no sense at all.

In a video game, items/guns are created by the developer. So when a new gun becomes the meta in COD eventually they can change it no problem.

In fantasy, they create a scoring system, then the outcome is determined by real life performance.

The way this analogy is kind of relevant is, surprise, sports games. And what player have people abused on FIFA for a decade? Ronaldo. What players have people abused on 2k?LeBron and Curry. And nothing is done to "nerf" this, because they can't just lower the stats of those specific players because their stats are a reflection of their real world dominance.

Also, it's not like there was historically all this great strategy to captain choices. For years and years and years Smith was the default captain for the majority of serious players. The new Smith is just even more dominant.

WAGs team has just broken the 1,000 with Schuster and Moses to come, also into the top 1k for this week .... she's doing alright this year

Is it really so terrible that the best player in the game who is dominating every stat this year, is also dominating in fantasy which is based on the aforementioned performance?

I've genuinely not heard a single complaint from someone who has Cleary as captain, because there are many different strategies within this game that one of them becoming redundant doesn't make the game broken.

I tend to agree that the whole double points for captain will be a moot point next year because Cleary is daylight above other options. One option would be that they give triple points for Captain (irrelevant since it will just be Cleary anyway) and double for vice captains to effectively bring that element back.
