NRL Fantasy 2021 Part 67 - Stop the rank crying and get on with it!

Still tossing up a few different options, it's basically a case of whether to prioritise R17 vs racing to a final 17 vs holding trades. Before doing anything I have 5 for R17 & 14 trades.

a) Laurie & Watson for SJ and Thompson
b) Laurie, Watson, and Matto for Verills, Haas, and DiFi
c) Laurie to Haas

For B, I guess I could also get Thompson instead of Haas, be +2 for R17 numbers, and still get DiFi.

The more I've thought about the more I'm leaning C. Huge upgrade, loop Watson with Ponga and Pearce back, and give Matto another week against the Dogs.

I was gonna say I'd still get Tohu over Taupau, but if Leniu -> Thompson is in the equation then I reckon lock that in, especially if you can still get Tohu by R17. Just don't trust Taupau, always seem to end up with him for the run home and he's never quite as good as I'd hope.

I was set on Verrills but a workmate had talked me into Keighran and I was second guessing myself. Really glad it was so one sided lol.

Listening to a podcast, a really interesting point was brought up re: the warriors and walsh/rts.

Last time SOS was named, he was a last minute swap to Walsh and RTS moved to FB.

Wonder if the same thing will happen and people who trade RTS will live to regret it instantly.

Laurie to Verrills and load up the bank??? That's the smart play isn't it...was thinking about jumping on to Simmo but already have WFB/CTR cover so maybe let that one go.

With 14 trades I would go pretty hard at rd17. That said though, there's six trades available in the next two rounds if you'd prefer to wait and get a better idea of who your outs are. Just need to identify who your targets are and identify if any would be better traded in this week due to BE.

Kick metres, goal kicking, good team with a good draw, avg over 50, plays rd17 (and passes the eye test.....)

If you have 14 trades mate i'd go B.

Thanks mate, my initial thought post-lockout was A and go hard at R17, but the lure of DiFi/Haas has been hard to ignore.

A leaves me with 0k which is usually a decent sign, my only reservation is squad balance - is Cleary, Moses, Fog, SJ (Schuster) HLF overkill?

I probably can't avoid Walsh any longer.

I don't think SOS hangs around long. He's just not very good.

Obviously Walsh is a kid so the concern might be having him defend in the front line for too long, but Walsh could play 6 in attack but defend at FB.

Remember years ago Granville used to defend at fb for Wynnum when playing 'hooker'. That was back when he couldnt tackle.

Most squads currently have 20 playable guys then someone like Simonsson/Suaali to round it out. We don't have the usual season long red dots like Niu, Wiliame, Billy Britain etc

This should mean being able to field 17 in the back end even if it's a shit 17

20 playable can become 15 pretty quickly with a couple of longish term injuries, the odd suspension, and 18th/19th man ending up on the bench or dropped. Anyway its all pure speculation and a long way away.

I'm obviously talking about/hoping for a scenario that favours me, assuming I actually have some trades up my sleeve this year.

Thanks mate I think I will I’m now 3200 ranks behind Jax I don’t think I have much choice but to trade as I can’t lose by more than 1000 ranks. Him having Hughes makes me feel like I needed that other top end gun in DCE.

Haumole is a gamble but I’m hoping it could pay off.

Going Flegler to Johnston because feels like fun and amazing run of games and fixes my WFB cover if I sell Laurie. Sadly 3k short Laurie to Adam Reynolds. Want to keep Watson and Mann vs Warriors. We've leaked points lately
