Currently tossing up between two of Lolo, Marty, Jackson, AFB.

    My thinking is:

Lolo:  Last 3 years has scored at 1ppm.  His minutes are not down that much, and if he returns to his long term 1ppm average he should be mid 55- 60 average.  [He may have been training the house down during SOO period].  Not dual. On edge of 8: all to play for.

Marty: Seems in decent form.  Despite minute watch, he seems to average in 50s every year.  Playing for a form team that'll make the 8.

JJ: Solid and shouldn't disappoint (nor excite).  Plays for a shit team - so risk of tailing off back end of year?

AFB: Most $ upside (which is a problem for my team) but unsure about return from injury plus lodge coming across may impact him?? On edge of 8: all to play for.

I'm leaning to Lolo & Marty.  Anyone keen to rank them or point out someone obvious I'm overlooking?

Pre trades my mid/edge are Angus, Haas, TPJ, Matterson, Curran, Jones, Uto
Post trades would be Angus, Haas, Lolo, Marty, Matterson, Curran, Jones

PS:  I can afford Harris with any one of the above, but I'm thinking of skipping him.... 'cos my team is crap and I feel like doing something different, and it means I can get Fifita in a few weeks.

    Lodge?

If R17 isn't a concern then Murray also great around that price point

He played only 35 mins after SOO 1 and scored 55

I reckon he’ll back up if he’s on the bench again in SOO 3

That 35 minutes was HIA affected though. Would likely have planned for bigger minutes

55 points in 35 minutes was over achieving though to make up for it

TU: Cleary and TPJ to Fifita and Turbo
TD: Cleary and TPJ to Cook and Thompson/Taupau and pocket the extra cash

Cook will back up in round 18 surely?

Trade out Matto or Schuster? Not doing TU/TD - interested in thoughts.

    Mine on keeping:

Matto: previous gun, good team, knows the tryline
Schuster: great 18th man for way home, good player

Could just keep both and sell Curran of course.

Hadn't clocked that I have 6 in action tonight: Tohu (c), Macca, Burton, Moses, iPap, Matto. Need a big one.

Yeah I got him instead of Turbo this week because I think he's more likely to back up.

Titans pushing to make the 8, backed up off the bench last time, and only played ~55 mins in Origin 2.

I traded Schuster. Means I'll play Matto over Verrills.

    Wish I'd captained D.Fififi now

Last year JJ played 80 minutes all season, and then in the final 6 games played 59, 80, 72, 69 (nice), 72, 67 minutes. That seems to indicate that your concern is founded in history, however he's rarely been playing 80 this year anyway. Perhaps now they have Tolman and Thompson, he doesn't need to play 80, and so he's going to stay fresh and keep a higher PPM (0.53 in 2020, 0.75 in 2021 so far).

I think he'll play the same minutes moving forward, and be more involved knowing he wont play for 80 every week. Think I'd prefer JJ to Marty who's minutes can be quite volatile. I wouldn't be going near AFB with a 10 foot pole. So for mine:

    1. JJ
    2. Lolo
    3. Marty
    4. AFB

Damned if you do, damned if you don't I'm afraid.

I've gone cold on Matto as he's not played 80 for 5 weeks in a row.  That seems long enough to be a pattern.  And the Eels keep stacking the bench with edge players.  It looked like iPap was the one to play a bit of edge and then move to middle, which I had hoped would meant Matto would get 80, but that failed to materialise.  He stays for me only because I am short edge players.

Schuster seemed to have the 2rf locked down before he was injured and I personally think he'll get it back.  But that's another gut feel call.

With my above post in mind, I don't mind getting in JJ now.. as per my team tracker I'm getting in iPap this week, Fifita and Turbo in for round 19, and also aiming to get in another good MID. Was previously thinking Murray or Haas, but now I'm thinking I should get in Jackson next round for an extra round 17 number, plus a very solid option for the run home.

iPap this week with JJ next week leaves me with the following forward pack for the run home (once I also get Fifi in):

    Tohu Angus Jackson
    Fifita iPap

Cover: Curran, Koloa, Schuster (maybe cutting Curran or Schuster).

Feel free to weigh in on the plan.

Perhaps wishful thinking, can't seem to see any circumstances that may have Schuster pushed forward to rd 17. They seem to be getting troops back.
