the kid is awesome, hes that strong. Stuper hard to stop close to the line, good defender, good skills. Really happy with the singing.
Knights back line might be red hot next year

    Watson
    Moga
    Matutia
    Ramien
    SKD
    Ponga
    Pearce

    looks pretty good on paper!
Mason lino as a backup half is a great signing too

Signing Lino has freed up enough cash at the Warriors for them to keep Luke

Veteran Parramatta centre Michael Jennings and St George Illawarra utility Kurt Mann have been linked to the Newcastle Knights.

According to The Newcastle Herald, Knights coach Nathan Brown has met with the players representatives in the past week.
Both players are believed to be willing to move to the Knights, however both remain contracted at their current clubs.

Jennings will earn approximately $800,000 at the Eels next season, but could be allowed to move as the Eels seek to create salary cap space.
However any deal would likely need the Eels to pay half of Jenning’s salary.

Mann was a junior at the Knights, before departing for Melbourne and then the Dragons.
The tough utility has played every position in the backline, but would be turned into a hooker if he moved to Newcastle.

Jennings... meh. He was great last year, dreadful this year. If he wants to get fit and if Parra are paying half his wage, 400k is still too much for him.

Mann I wouldnt mind, hes a pretty decent utility. A hooker.. its a bit slight to play that on a consistent basis and his defence isnt good enough to play in the the middle for long stints. I like him as a backup half and outside back but as a hooker.... I dont rate it.

We have Lino as a backup half and potentially hooker as well.

I think we need a good prop still in order to be an actual contender - and would prefer Ponga to stay at 1 and we move Watson on. Mann can play 6.

Jennings for 400k a year? I'll take it. And Mann at hooker? Good little hard nut. Take him too.

The Newcastle Knights have signed Slade Griffin in an off field role as a 'wrestling' coach as his playing future remains in doubt.

Knights coach Nathan Brown said the following when speaking on Griffin,

“He has to see his specialist and if everything is really good healing-wise from his first operation, you’d expect with his next operation, if that goes well, he may play very late in the season."

“But I’d suggest it wouldn’t be in the NRL. He’d be aiming to have a few games at the back end in reserve grade."

“Even that would hinge on him being right to have the second operation straight away. If it hasn’t healed enough and he has got to wait another month or two, he’ll be struggling to even get back at all next year.”

So if rumours are to be believed Klemmer comes on huge money. If it's 1.2m that's being suggested that's a lot of money for one player however he's what we need in the engine room. I'd like to see him in Knights colours. We're also apparently in for Napa and Merrin. I'd love a forward pack of Klemmer and Napa, Merrin can fuck off to England. However I don't believe we get both Napa and Klemmer, would be great to dream of as it adds much needed mongrel in the middle.

I would take Klemmer over Napa.
Napa and Klemmer as your starting props is fucking pretty awesome.
    Ill take all 3

Napa's best game is better than Klemmer's best game (that game against Souths when he destroyed the Burgess brothers was probably the best game by a prop in 20 years IMO), but Klemmer does it far more consistently. Napa would only be worth 2/3 of Klemmer's value on past performance IMO.

He'll be great for them but he's got way to many average games in him for that price tag IMO.

i dunno, klemmer doesn't really ever turn in average games, his value is actually in how reliable he is and setting a platform just about every week

he obviously doesn't ever win you a game like a fifita or lolo does but you can depend on him

he only ever seems to go all crazy eyes and do stupid shit once of twice a year these days too

If the reported price tag is even remotely close though you want someone with the ability to break open a game. I just can't see how he could ever be worth more than Lolo.

he is no where near Lolo obviously, but you're always gonna have to go above market rate to get a big name player from another club

It's too much money for mine. Like it's been said he's not a game changer and for that price tag you need to be.

Matt Scott wasnt a game changer and he was the #1 prop for years. I dont really want my props to be flick passing and stepping people. I want them to be hard nosed battering rams.

He was a 8/9/10 out of 10 every week in regards to laying the platform and doing his job - and thats what Klemmer is. Yep he wont step someone or throw a flick pass etc but he will do his 25-30 good tackles and 15-20 good hitups every game.

It's not a matter of him being good or not it's a matter of worth. How much do you honestly think he's worth?

He is worth what ever a team is willing to pay him.

To some teams he might be worth a fortune, to some not as much. He is like 25, he's the best prop in the game. Origin and Australian player. He is plays a position Newie desperately need. So yep we have paid overs for him, if we get him, but thats what you have to do sometimes to get the player you want. If Newcastle win a comp why he is there, then he is worth every cent.

The real bargain is ponga only on 650/700k at the moment. His pay is going to just about double come the end of his contract.

Gavet, meh we'll take the large body but nothing special. Forget to mention I saw a few lads over here out at Scarbs and Segeyaro was one of them. He gave me a wink when I asked if he was joining the Knights
