CHN to Cook an easy one, but using your last trade on Verrills to Pap is ballsy. Wouldn't do it myself. Think you're right that doing it over 2 weeks is the play, just in case.

Yeah, wouldn't mind seeing how the Storm line up next week Very Happy

I'm sure injuries/suspensions will sort it out for me though

When Bird got EDG DPP I never thought I'd ever be playing him there. This week I've done just that so my INT bench is properly set up to cover all positions.

I could just use my last trade to get Curran or Jackson in but I think I'll wait at least another round. Potential for a lot of players rested in the next week or two and who knows what could happen this week so the trade could come in handy.

    Teddy Ponga Walsh

    Murray Doueihi Verrills Lolo

    Schoupp Kobe Matterson McCullough

If I use the trade it's on Matto to Cook/Jackson/Grant/Curran.

Matto definitely gone, so may as well use it right?

It's definitely that time of year isn't it Very Happy

Neither of your red dots is coming back, it's a good trade and you have cover for every position so it's all about the appetite for risk.....I would be inclined to do it (Actually that's a lie I would be inclined to think about it, procrastinate, do it and then reverse it....then Cook would have a stormer)

Players like Matto and CHN are no brainer trades IMO.

My second centre position is a real weak spot in my team (Scritta + Burton often fight it out for the second ctr spot with Bird taking up the other spot). Would you use your last trade on a CHN to the likes of Manu or Aitken, just to upgrade that 15-25 to a 40+ consistently or just play the ctr roulette and use the last trade another week when I might need it?

Bench is Verrills (hitting 40+ now), Grant, Lolo (if fit), looping Walsh and one of Scritta/Burton or Hetherington via Angus, so the need for a better 14-17 player is there also.

Burton at CTR is still averaging 42, not sure that's worth a trade.

Team I have currently with 1 trade and 105k spare is:

    Brailey
    Haas Ipap Murray
    Fifita Schuster
    DCE Moses
    Ramien Manu
    Teddy Turbo Ponga

    Doueihi Walsh Olakau’atu Macca
Peachey (loop1) Verrills (loop2) Angus Suaali

I’m in a position to wait til Sunday morning I think to see if I trade Macca to Curran. Or is it just worth doing Macca to Curran anyway with my final trade as it’s a big upgrade?

Finally who do we think are the best captaincy options this week for those that don’t own Cleary?

Do we think Turbo if he plays has a bit more of a quieter one? Other captaincy options I guess are Haas v Warriors, Teddy v the Dragons and DCE.

Yeah I’ve seen so many scenarios in the last couple of season where “double coverage for every position” becomes “shit I can only play 16” that I’m holding my last trade while I have that luxury. As much as I’d love not to have Verrills/Mbye duking it out for 17th place, I’ll reassess next week.

Yeah fair enough, I guess the only way it backfires is if someone more expensive gets injured and I can't trade them, but you can't plan for that.

Feel like that leaves my trade in options as:

Cook: Up and down all year but still averaging 58. His scores against the top teams have been pretty poor though and always a chance of reduced mins in the last round.

Jackson: Mr consistent. Hasn't gone below 50 since R14, hasn't gone below 40 all year. Dual is handy and in a good vein of form.

Grant: Should play 80 this week against the Titans which is tempting, but in his 50-60 min role only averaging 50.

Curran: Avg 63 in 70+ minutes, playing the Broncos this week and in excellent form. Could be iPap 2.0. Hard to look past.

Head says Cook, but I'm very tempted to gamble on Curran keeping up his form.

I agree. Verrills is fine to play. I've just lost Crichton, CHN and Matto from edge availability, it can go south quickly. In my case, just hoping Fifita and Blore can hold on until Angus is back. But yeah, keeping that trade until you identify which position gets smashed could be the play.

Knights offering extra $ and an extra year, but Connor goes back to the Chooks, who already have a small 13, link player in Radley that he will be behind. How much extra did uncle Nick promise him?
Who else from his family is going to be on the Roosters payroll? Did this offer include a fancy car or boat?

It's time the dominant clubs (yes I'm looking at you Roosters, Storm, Broncos - yes I know they have sucked over the past 2 years but history is telling, Eels, Bunnies) go through a forensic accounting investigation. If Vlandis wants Rugba League to remain successful, then the salary cap needs to be seriously policed. Having the same four or five teams at the top year in year out becomes very boring.

Why is it so hard to believe a player will take less dollars to play at a better club with better future prospects.

People do this all the time in regular working environments

Id do exactly what watson has done.

That's just what is being reported by fox league mate, the figures are probably wrong let's be honest. Watson has had ties to Robinson for a while now and probs reckons he can further develop as a player under him - think I heard something about Robbo saying to Watson he reckons that he can get him to the NSW 14 jersey.

You can't just assume that all the dominant clubs are cheating the cap, especially when it's all based off pure speculation and not actual figures.

You'd think if it's so obvious and blatant to fans of the game then the NRL themselves who have the real figures in front of them would be able to catch them lol...

I think having Robbo, Bellyache and Bennet (Rabbits and Broncos) as your head coach has something to do with their success also. 3 of the best coaches ever. Eels have only really seen 3-4 years of successful footy recently. It is in every sport where you have your successful powerhouse clubs mate and then you have the clubs likes your Manly's, Doggies, Knights that have their 2-3 year windows here and there. Just the way it is.

Although I do agree players receive TPA's and under the table offers at every club.

I know here in Townsville we have a big building company called Lancini Homes and apparently so the rumour goes that Cowboys players get brand new homes built for them for cheap as piss because Lancini is a massive Cowboys throbber!

    EXACTLY.

Play 2 years at a successful club for less money to then possibly be offered double your contract elsewhere for that 3rd year.... or play 3 years at a club that is receding for a little extra money to then have your worth either stay neutral or go down even more.

I think he is looking out for numero uno!

    This.

Such a dumb concept that some fans think it's all about money...

I would've done the same thing Watson has done, play under Robinson and in a better team who is much more likely to win a comp which brings it's own benefits

    Watson making the right decision.

Collecting a huge pay day is great. Constantly standing under the goal posts after conceding a try and rarely singing the team song, not so great.

I'm sure a little less money is worth playing with a club that's in premiership contention.
