    https://www.sportingnews.com/au/league/news/jason-demetriou-backs-lachlan-ilias-to-wear-adam-reynolds-no-7-long-term/17r18vywjmf3n1f95fqaytqsa0

This article seems to suggest an approach whereby Ilias may play two fill-in games at HLF at the start of the season and then develop in the reggies for a while. This gives me more confidence that Taaffe will be a solid pick for R1. DPP WFB HLF - makes him almost a must have. Hopefully the huge numbers of people who already have Ilias in their team do not realise this. That third option that someone mentioned a while back is not in the Top 30 yet.

Milford isn’t coming anymore I think Ilias will keep the jersey.

I had another look at predicted teams last night and can't really see any available cows in the MID.
I'll probably opt for 3 of Haas, TPJ, Uto, JDB, Curran or Cotter in my starting 13.
Leaning towards TPJ, Curran, and Cotter. All 3 have room for improvement and pass the eye test.

Did you read the article? Demetriou himself says that he will ease him into the role. Cannot get any more direct from the horses mouth than that

I don’t need to read it from last November I know what the latest is I’m on lots of Souths forums and a couple of people on there they get accurate info.

Unless Ilias doesn’t play solid the first 2 weeks he will keep the jersey.

If Cotter is in the 14 I don’t think I can pick him.

On a sidenote, with the change of coach, are we expecting Cook to play more of a pre-Bennett type game? It would be better for his fantasy output.

Do we think it's likely that Tago plays centre with Taylan May on the wing, or are they both fighting for that centre spot (with Staines on the wing)?

I've currently got both of them in my team

I'm struggling with mids and EMG. At the moment I've got Ilias locked in there, but no other cheapies as of yet.

No idea if he will run more but I’d hope JD will encourage him too. I think he will play 80mins to start with but obviously around origin time he will be managed and rested at times!

Gotta love the journalists NRL wouldn’t let him register with Souths due to his ongoing legal matters yet all of a sudden it’s like he’s clear to go the Knights for 12 months  Lol

We all are mate in that same boat. I haven’t made a draft for 3 days I might fiddle tonight....

On another note I have Suaali currently but I have a feeling he won’t be fit for round 1. I know Beth is set on getting Rocco Berry but I’m not convinced yet I’m on the fence.

Here's an interview with the assistant horse in December who's mouth said it's between Ilias and Hawkins for 7 with Taaffe as 14/6/1

    Interesting!

What role would Taaffe play at 14 and who would he fill in for? Would he take some of Ilias' minutes? I can't see him taking many off Cook. Maybe this is what Demetriou meant by easing Ilias in to the role. It might make both players less attractive?

On another note. At Souths, could we expect JAI ARROW to play decent minutes on the edge 60+? He is listed as a MID and if so, could be at least 10 points undervalued!!!!

I could see him taking the role of Su'A. Apparently that is where he has been at training. If he played closer to 80 he would be very hard to ignore in a difficult position

I've got Suaalii in the run on side because he's DPP, playing for the Roosters who have a relatively easy first 8 rounds and a much less injured team and because the hype about him was Ponga like. That said, there have been lots of players hyped up who didn't match expectations.

Rocco Berry is my POD. Warriors have the best games to start the season of all teams and he will be outside SJ, who is less likely to run, but great at getting the guys outside him into space. Berry just started playing league, has huge upside potential.

I’m glad this place is getting back to normal I missed it over the off season.

I’ll be looking forward to hearing Wolfe’s take on Nofo at 455k I’m sure he will be tempted.

No doubt MTB will have his site  bigger and better then ever, Chewie will be back to wanting page 51 to come around etc..... Matt and his brilliant Pods that will be the next big thing.... Beth with her elite immortal one out of a thousand picks, No Worries with his sense of humour etc....

And much more to come no doubt sorry I’ve only mentioned a few but I look forward to talking fantasy with you all again!

Oh and how could I forget teeth eater with his 4 scenarios all written out.... oh and me no doubt who who will be panicking come Fantasy Christmas Day!
