Hooker position im struggling with the most, apart from Randall of course.
I dont want start with one of the guns as i want to watch Cook vs Grant before I decide which one to bring in.

    My mid/cheap options:
Cotter - handy dpp. Will he get the mins to make enough tackles to get 40+ score each week? Unlikely to get many attacking stats.

Starling - will he get enough mins off the bench early season when middle players are fresh. Plenty of upside owning him if Hodgo gets injured.

Clark - starting hooker, but again what will mins actually be like. Prob just a 30 point scorer.

Probably leaning toward Cotter at this stage but wish he was more around Starlings price

This one is equal parts (i) training the house down; (ii) not injury affected this year; (iii) the eye test; and (iv) some careful cherry-picking of stats...

I am strongly considering Waqa Blake as one of my CTRs

    By all reports,

    (i) he is certainly training the house down

(ii) in his last injury-free season (with the Panthers), he averaged 45.

(iii) towards the end of last season (into the finals), he certainly passed the eye test and the fantasy score test. he is reverting back to the strike CTR he was well-known to be

(iv) I believe his dry spell; as much as linked to him carrying injuries; was certainly driven by his boofhead outside back partner Ferguson. With Ferguson, he averaged 24. Without Ferguson, he averaged 46. This is similar to what he scored in his last non injury-affected season

Not without risk, but everyone needs at least one POD. His partnership with his new WNG partner Dunster over the regular season netted an average of 51, which was even higher during the finals.

I am leaning towards Lawton personally. DPP HOK/EDG. I predict he will get a few 80 min games at HOK to start the season before reverting back to starting on the EDG as Schuster's replacement. A bit cheaper than Starling, better minutes than Cotter if he gets the gig as expected, maybe on par with Starling for potential?

Hard to tell how Manly will line up. Last season Lawton was injured when Davey was fit, and then Davey got injured when Lawton was fit. Then throw Bullemor into the mix.
Walker has been doing some training at hooker so are they planning on him spending time in the middle and at hooker? Or is it to allow Bullemor to come on and play the role that Walker did last season

I haven't been able to move away from Clark but can already feel the 55 minutes for 24 points in round 1

Sounds like you're reaching and over-thinking a position that has pretty obvious selection candidates

Schuster has a syndesmosis injury which even with surgery could see him back in six weeks (from last week) i.e. could be as early as Round 3.
So whoever fills in on the edge may not get the start for very long...

Or who knows, maybe they do really well and Des decides to give Schuster the 6 and bench Foran?

I wouldn’t be I have mail from my Manly mate he’s their Mr fix it and likely to be in the 14 jersey most of the year so he will be like the new Aubbo.
