I don't think there's high confidence Suaalii will be fit for round 1. If he's named, I'm on him but might be BSmith (would be on him too) or Naiqama (less so).

If he gets the edge spot I am all in. $400k, average of 52.

Spent the night catching up on the last 100 or so pages.  Good to see everyone back for another Year.

Would like to give a shout out to StuDogg having his First born today.  All reports suggest his newborn girl, named Stacey Dan Carter-Vettori Jones, is doing well Very Happy

For those worrying about not getting Cleary in early, I will remind you that last year's winner started without Cleary and didn't get him in for 4 rounds.

How many mins you expecting him to get at start of season?

Hi Rabbits, I have no idea what Ricky will do with Starling/Hodgson minutes because he is, well Ricky.

I'll be watching the trial matches like everyone else to see what he does. Raiders play Friday night.

For me, unless I get some certainty over Starling minutes I won't put him in my team. I could see a Starling pick paying off, but I could also see it tanking.

Depends on your risk appetite, mine is the Grandma side of boring.

    Jack Bird

“Position-wise I have been training at back row this year. At the start of the pre-season I was training in the middle at lock. I have recently moved out to the back row on the edge.

“I haven’t trained anywhere in the backs, so I would say I will be playing in the back row or the middle somewhere.”

Bird has welcomed the arrival of former Manly star Moses Suli and believes his combination with Zac Lomax in the centres will see him push into the back row permanently.

“It doesn’t bother me too much where I play as long as I am playing footy,” Bird said.

    ----------------------------------

I think I would have more confidence in Bird as an 80 minute edge than less minutes in the middle.

Guessing this would move Sims into the middle with Sua as the other edge.

If only the Dragons had an elite rep quality 13 that can handle the ball and dominate defensively. Shame they don't grow on trees leaving them forced to move second rowers

I'm not brave enough to start with JDB but he might end up in my team real quickly if he carves out a 65 minute lock role

Momirovski, and maybe even Keighran would also be a shout.

I share Alfie's thoughts about the cheapie CTR/WFBs we all love though. In most cases it look like paying 28 for a 33 score.
No doubt at least one of them will start the season on fire, but most I predict will fizzle.

I too will struggle to pick Bird as starting lock with De Belin (and to a lesser extent, Josh McGuire) also around/

Maybe those 2 will start prop with Woods on the bench.

But I don't see how starting Bird at lock is part of the Dragons best 17.

I think Roosters mid-season, everyone fit backline would be Tupou, Momirovski, Manu, Suaalii, but how quickly that comes about I don't know.

Sims is their best EDG player I don't see them moving him to the middle

Sims at lock would be interesting for me. Could be the new Harris / Yeo.

Scores of 55 and 63 there last season, with 70 minutes in each game. High work rate with no attacking stats.

If there is a muppet price bump, what would Curtis Scott cost if he ever got registered?
