Not watching the game but already thought Cowboys will be the best Qld team this year. I mean it’s a low bar but still

I like what I see. Defence vastly better than last year. Val and Hiku really improve the edge defence from previous. Hess not being on an edge likewise.

I know people hate the Chad but he’s the kinda player a young team needs. Lets Dearden develop without the pressure he had at the Broncos - can just play eyes up, take on the line etc. before gradually taking over more and more organising.

I think they’ll be good this year

Broncos need to go with Reynolds and Mam. There have been rumours that this has been the plan for a while but i also think its bullshit. The the other options are terrible

He looks very good. Hard to work out what his role/minutes will be like though, especially when Flegler returns.

Maybe there's a reason Billy Walters is 28 and has never nailed down an NRL gig?

(Practically impossible not to start with him at 240k if his dad picks him, but will feel kind of dirty.)

At this stage of his career, keeping Chad on the field is the challenge

I couldnt do it. If walters starts the season at 6, id be convinced kevy has no plan. I guess that wouldnt be surprising after what we saw last year, but how long would billy last. Two weeks?.. i think the icing on the cake was Alfie saying Billy should be 6.. that was the moment i figured they are all playing silly buggers.. but why.. ??

The post game interview with Reynolds was strange too.

Haas will definitely take the bulk of the minutes. Carrigan probably will as well but build up to it.

Flegler probably gets a handful of minutes his first couple of games back. I think I’ll go with Kobe gives me a second hooker too Embarassed

After watching the broncos trial games, some guys aren't exactly beating the door down seeking selection.

Mulvy wrote:I think fair to say Crichton, Tago, Ilias and Paulo have passed their audition tonight. Bird looks like a safe pick but can probably wait until after the first bye. Amone interesting also but still leaning towards Ilias if I only can get one.
Hey mate just so you lads know I have a feeling Paulo might not stay at left centre, he didn’t look too good to me I thought Lomax gave him a bath tbh Paulo reads were bad and he seems a bit too casual like he’s not interested. He’s getting roasted on Souths social media too. The issue is Mansour shat the bed very bad and I don’t think we can play him round 1 he’s too slow now.

We don’t have many options in the backs as the kids aren’t ready yet but it’s quite clear we have some issues in our backs.

My predicted Souths backline for round 1:

    1. Taaffe
    2. AJ
    3. Campbell
    4. Milne (looked more comfortable than Paulo at centre in second half)
    5. Paulo

Tass is recovering from injury and I have a feeling we will be needing him quite early on.

Just on the CS well done to the Dragons they completely outplayed us and had more energy I had no issues with the ref he was fair. In terms of fantasy Ilias looked good better than I expected this kid can play, Cook running  game nowhere to be seen except running in a circle. Paulo I won’t be picking I just can’t doesn’t pass the eye test to me at centre as I said. Arrow I thought was good started on edge then went to middle I just have no idea re his mins like I’d guess 55mins maybe 60mins some weeks hard to say. Probs a little upside in him and he will get DPP.

If you want someone around the 550k mark your 3 options are Uto, Arrow and Paulo not sure who is best to pick.

For Dragons Amone not sure his base is enough for me to get him in, Bird looked very good but missed 7 tackles.

Hard to know how many minutes Cotter will get in that pack.

I liked Kobe tonight I think I might start with him for the fact he’s cheap 376k and has the DPP.

    Anyone starting with Pereira?
