Saying Starling in was a mistake and getting Hynes early for Papy is 2 sides of the same coin, with different outcomes. 1 got very unlucky, most of the time it was the right move, the other got very lucky, with Papy injured the game he came back, most of the time it was the wrong move.

Why was picking starling the right move?

I think he is still saying that starling was a mistake and was saying that that was very unlucky

Last year other than the obvious rush to get Cleary and/or Turbo for those that didn't have them from their first game.
And when Cleary got injured again there were people who held him throughout, ditched him forever, or ditched him and get him back.

    Lots of people avoided iPap
There was a wide range around when people traded Papenhuyzen out, or Nicho Hynes in. Everyone that did it early got rewarded but at the time that was a gamble.
Most people got Reece Walsh in early, but there would have been plenty of people that

Some people traded in Starling when he got a start at hooker, or worse, Zac Cini - both of which were mistakes.

The popular centres had wildly varying results. Between getting injured, having poor results, or actually doing well (in the case of Averillo, becoming a gun after many had traded him out)

I pretty much did all of those things and few more bad ones

    * Didn't get Ipap until round 18

    * Held Papy until round 10 but thankfully didn't hold him any longer than that.

    * Bought Hynes and Walsh in round 12, so a bit late but could have been much worse

    * Got trapped by both Starling and Cini

    * Sold Averillo after round 2, then paid top dollar to bring him back in round 15

    * Bought Tohu Harris at the worst possible time, only got his two injury-affected scores

    * Bought Corey Thompson the week he did his ankle

    * Held Schuster all year, through his long injury.

I did make some good calls though.

    * Sold Cleary as soon as he got injured, got DCE in who I kept all year.

    * Got Doueihi in round 6, managed to get his 100 and then sold before his -4

    * Got Momirovski in round 2 and Bunt in round 13, while they were still low ownership

    * Sold Simonsson in round 4 and Leniu in round 7, earlier than most people did

    * Bought Turbo in round 10, while he was still 663k, so a bit late but not catastrophically late (and I had got Doueihi's 100 the week before to offset Turbo's 100)

    * Sold SJ right before he got injured, and did probably my most insane trade of all time by buying Corey Norman while he was suspended, as a way to loop that week, and then Norman went on to average almost 50 in the run home.

Because he was just named starting hooker, a role he held for 5 straight rounds, with Hodgson having a bust up with the coach and on the market with other clubs, as Starling was the guy that they were moving forward with. At $400k it was a no brainer to pick him up. 4 out of 5 scores of 50+ in that time. It was the right move, even though he didnt get the role ongoing.

I sent you a PM mate please check when you can.

On another note my bold prediction for round 1 is Turbo to score less than 60 in round 1.

Still a massive gamble. Hodgson was injured. It didnt pan out. It was a mistake

Starling is still not the starting hooker at the club?

As I mentioned mate, I've had a bit going on so I can't offer much assistance with draft teams at the moment. I'll be basing everything I do on team lists and just rolling with whatever.

5 weeks of 50 average for $400k, made $140k in value and every chance that Hodgson moved to another club, or Starling kept the starting spot on form.

What we got was the worst outcome of what could have happened and was still a good outcome.

Massive upside potential, low risk, decent outcome despite being the worst outcome possible.

The correct answer to any PM with a draft team is ‘wow I can’t believe you don’t have X’ and then not responding to any follow ups

The worst possible outcome was their starting 9 returning to be their starting 9.

Surprisingly, even my team got that response, and they were right, despite having lots of PODs

Will we get the Thursday night teams (Panthers/Manly) tomorrow? Or will it come out on Tuesday with everyone elses?
