Two trades I also lined up, also considering LThompson instead of Rjenn

Is it possible that Starling spent pre season training with being backup in mind? Now that he’s been thrust into starting he may need to get the minutes into the legs before he can look at getting those bulk minutes?White Lightning wrote:Would like to get Starling but Trevilyan played 23 mins leaving Starling only 57 mins. If it was 10/70 mins I'd be keener

Poor bastard.
Not sure if he's been mentioned but does that make Gilbert an option?

Gilbert appears to have that hybrid role (to borrow a term from mattnz) of edge/middle, which was the same the first two weeks despite the scores varying wildly. So I don't think it affects him. He could score well, but 507k a tricky price particularly now he has bumped up his breakeven with last weeks 24. Probably helps cement JTB in the middle if the injury doesn't set him back to much. Probably some more game time for Neame, but unlikely enough to be able to pick him at 397k.

Yeah, I looked at that one too. Mahoney's tackle count is way down, which I'm mentally putting up as a combination of lower general fitness decreasing tackle numbers overall and a slight shift in tactics towards the edges (suspect the two are linked).
If the two are linked then the high middle tackled numbers will return as props build fitness.
If they are not then it's perhaps a structural shift to a post-PVLBall strategy and Mahoney is overpriced.
Either way, if Starling was in this position at year commence then I'd have start him over Mahoney.
So Mahoney goes.

That's my thinking at the moment. If Starling was in the position R1 I'd def gone that way as well

If you say so. He played 75 minutes one week and 74 the next. Both spent part middle, part edge. Both weeks there was an injury. I'm not talking about the specifics of who comes on when, because it's impossible, that will be decided by game flow and injuries. I'm saying he'll get good minutes most weeks split between edge and middle.
