Suggest not trading Wilton, based on the interview with Fitz, he all but said he is holding his spot as left EDG (reading between the lines).

Hmm, yeah maybe. Is fitz is stupid enough to say he doesnt want to give anything away and then.. give it away 30 seconds later.. ?

(I honestly dont see the point in being secretive about it)

He's not half bad honestly, priced in the low 30s and historically averages low 40s on the edge, so there is definitely money there.

Do you want another low 40s scorer in your 17?

If not do you want to spend $461k on a cash cow that you don't want in your 17 and could get an HIA any game and be out for weeks?

No, and that's why I most likely wouldn't get him, but I can understand why some would do it.

I've been very much guns/cheapies this year, and don't generally like mid priced players unless I think they will either become top tier guns or make me quick money.

He must be smarter than he comes across as in interviews.

I get the impression in every interview I have seen with him this season that he hasn't had difficult conversations with players yet and wants to speak cryptically to the media until he has had those discussions with each player impacted.

One consistent thing I've always seen with great players is their ability to lead the game, rather than be dictated to by the game (i.e. anticipating good trades rather than following/reacting to what happened last week and what might be this weeks must-have shiny toy).

Well said there, that's a big reason why great players do what they do. I've tried to channel that as much as I can this year, which is why I've been pretty aggressive with my trades. When I had my great year in 2019, one of the main drivers of that was that I led the game in getting some big players that year (Wighton, McInnes, JPap etc.).

It's why I sold Fifita as early as I did, and why I sold Teddy last week, to mention some examples from this year. Last year one of my biggest issues was holding onto depreciating guns for too long

Thats the thing with backs sometimes, a few injuries elsewhere and the team suffers along with their scores
Sometimes you just got to ride it out and hope for the troops to arrive or the form to come back

    Name these players

    63,54,37,36,31,34,31

    45,61,44,25,38,33,8

This is my thinking with Wighton. I knew i was going to take a hit last week with his score vs Penrith, but now he has Warriors and Bulldogs. Im hoping for a couple of bounce back scores.
I probably should have found a way to trade him to Cleary but im thinking he doesnt get the number 14 NSW role this season and plays rd 13.

Not sure I see the appeal. He's priced at 46. Averages high 40s. Only went above that at the back end of 2020 where he scored 6 tries in 5 games. Brief purple patch.
You're banking on him having an unlikely purple patch.
High BE so I'd at least give it another week.

+5% ownership since lockout lifted which is one of the highest I can remember seeing.
Thinking most on the forum are giving him a miss if they haven't got him but obvs lots of coaches still bringing him in.

Agree. Think hes priced at about where he could average from here (ie, if you buy him this week, his average for your team is not the same as his season average).

Anyway.. shall be interesting. Could go large again tomorrow. If he continues to go large then im now being stubborn

As an interesting comparison, in Turbo's stand out season last year from a cheap price point, his BE never went below 10. This week Talakai's BE is -15!

There's a lot I don't like about that as a trade-in (largely how late it is), but there's something to be said for someone who can make you good cash and fast.

The problem is it's now a really difficult trade to facilitate and whereas last week you probably wanted 45-50's, now you want 55+'s - I mean it's possible. It's a consideration for mine.

    Origin audition?

I think talakai comes out on top as he has a much better supporting cast around him

The actual physical 1v1 when they appear will be great, I’m interested to see if staggs can tackle him

Staggs is actually a below average defender at centre. Plenty of centres will be able to contain him but not sure Kotoni is one.

I feel like im the only one who thinks Flanno is actually a decent 6. I don't get the hate.

But then there have been several coaches who thought the same thing.

I could just be an idiot. But I also doubt that.

I am surprised staggs gets thrown around for nsw selection.

Its not his physicality that is the issue. Decision making is tho

Hopefully he has a good night tomorrow

Agreed. He doesnt belong in origin.

Wonder if Walsh will never start at 1 as well. His defense is terrible.

Staggs defence is overrated because he can make the big tackles where he out muscles his opponent but tackling is just a component of defence. Being a good tackler doesn't't mean your a good defender.
