That is nuts. I had the aircon on in Auckland a few times this summer. First coldish day today though. It could be time for the first fire of the season.

The way I see it, would Pappy have scored better than Meaney in the same position? I would say not. I expect Meaney to score well at FB for a strong attacking team and should net enough gain to make the switch back to Pappy easier post-Origin

If you love your stats, this is a great article

Also if you haven’t stumbled upon Rugby League Eye Test, have a look, league porn for stats.

I dunno. Fbs dont just average high because they play for a good team. Certainly helps, but Papys avg at fb is not interchangeable with meaneys avg at fb. Papy does things that most nrl players cant

Panthers are undefeated and edwards averages 41.

Meaney isnt a bad pick up but 35 to 41 seems reasonable. Prob does get 40ish due to gk

Edit wait panthers lost last week haha

Edit2 yeah meaney has a handful of weeks shelf life. Priced at 35. If he had the rest of the season it would be a better buy. Not for 4 weeks

Do you expect Pappy to play before Round 18?

Great post thanks. I wonder if this becomes a reason that McInnes doesnt get really high minutes, with these push plays.
Instead of being able to play 80 minutes at Dragons, he could only manage 50-60 with all of these dummy runs that need to be made throughout the game with the Sharks game plan. Hard to be a huge minute lock when you need to do so much more high speed running.

    Great article

Interesting reading the comments - most people get it, and tbf I don't think it's that difficult to understand in principle (just to measure)- but there's a few "my head hurts" type comments. Which makes me think I reckon half the paid commentators and writers on rugby league probably fall into the latter category, or dumb themselves down to appear that way by focussing on cliches and sensationalism. Which does the game a disservice, really.

Does anyone with knowledge of Souths know if Havili's 40-minute point-per-minute minutes are sustainable minutes?

    Asking for a mate.

Not all of the Props that South are not playing seem to be injured.

PS I can see the downside of Meaney now. Thanks all for your contribution

I could swear there used to be a version of this stat on nrl dot com..

As you say the problem is it is hard to classify, but its not exactly a new concept. People always talk about having 'players in motion' and it is sort of the same thing. "Push up push up" has been heard around rugby league grounds for 100 years.

Broncos have been terrible at it for a long time. Its annoyed the shit out of me for years, as its not a skill thing just an effort/attitude thing

It's the worst. Matters for a few WFBs (but not as much as people think), and very little for anyone else.

Remember a month ago when Walker was a buy due to matchups?

Meaney with a 3 round average of 40 which is easily passable at his price makes 70k. Is that enough to trade him back out again?

Essentially he HAS to go big in the 3 games before the bye to make the trade viable. Way too much risk for me

He'll definitely benefit in the short term while Murray is out and should maintain a 40 minute role. Issue starts when Murray and Nicholls are both due back round 12-14 so he probably drops out of the 17 especially with Nikorima joining the squad. He could play round 17 with Murray and Arrow being Origin players if that's a factor in your decision too

Same every year mate. Everyone points to the one game player X went massive against team Y

Talakai prime example; 2 huge scores against quality opposition, 2 mediocre agaisnt poor

    Just play the average. lol!
