I am looking for it to be similar to the difference for Cheese.
Scores pretty meh as bench MID, but is a gun starting HOK with 60+ minutes.
They have pretty similar stats in both positions.

Hutchison will steal enough minutes to kill Watson's viability

So the 56 and 57 minutes for 38 and 37 points was only because he was off bench instead of starting. As long as Hutchison is getting minutes starting or off bench there's no value in Watson

Only got 14 and 16 minutes off the bench. Even when starting HOK, was only getting 20ish minutes. Hardly a threat.
Verrils was averaging in the 50s with these minutes, all with base stats and Watson is a much better player, going to create more in attack on top of strong base.

Think i'm gonna captain Grant instead of Cleary this week, Both sides gonna be doing a lot of defending and rather take my chance with a hooker than a half, gonna be raining as well

Also thoughts on maybe putting the C on Grant this week given it’ll be very wet in QLD or should I just keep it on Cleary? Halfbacks against Storm have scored poorly though this year.

Wouldn't halves do better in the wet - more kick metres?

    Halves vs Storm

    R1 Tigers - Hastings 22, Brooks 57*
    R2 Souffs - Walker 16, Ilias 18
    R3 Parra - Brown 83**, Moses 33
    R4 Dogs - Burton 44, Wakeham 38
    R5 Raiders - Wighton 31, Schneider 44
    R6 Sharks - Moylan 22, Hynes 45

    R7 Warriors - CHT 31, Johnson 21
    R8 Knights - Clifford 13, Clune 14
    R9 Dragons - Amone 26, Hunt 13

    *highest team score
    **highest match score

There's some good scores, but probably more below average ones. But at the same time, I'm not sure how much of that is on the Storm. E.g. Souths halves scored like garbage because the Rabbits had about 60% ball retention. And the R7-9 they destroyed those teams. Warriors barely had the ball for 40 mins, those are almost HT fantasy scores. The Knights were so bad Clifford got hooked. Mercifully I didn't see the Dragons (thanks Mothers day) but even then it's probably an above average Amone score.

Anyway, I don't expect those four games to be relevant to the Panthers. The rest are pretty standard.

Yeah that sounds logical & worth it & if I owned Grant I would definitely consider him over Cleary but just because it's raining it doesn't mean Cleary won't do well. I think earlier in the year Hynes went large on a rainy night & I think a couple of years ago Cleary tonned up against the Warriors in Auckalnd when it was a rainy & cold night. Imo teams focus more on the basics when the weather is poor & I've seen some games where the error rate is quite low.

Cleary gonna be junk pointing it up everywhere this week. Will be stinging after last week's loss.

Yeah I think he'll go well against us, and May/Tago should do well running at Seve and Coates.

Cleary might even put some early kicks in for To'o since Ieremia is very slow

Cleary can score well against anyone. Don't think matchups are too relelvant tbh.

Yep Panthers hurting after a loss vs Storm missing Papy and Reimis in the backline sounds like trouble to me from a Cleary going large point of view.
As pointed out, should get a tonne of kick metres in the rain too.
Agreed match ups dont mean a lot for him as he can kill it against anyone

He's probably the beneficiary of a few injuries and Murray out wouldn't hurt his prospects. Anyone want to take that punt?

Now he's in the centres, what sort of average would you expect. He'll make money if he stays in the team, but will it be enough to justify 2 trades?

Agree with both of these posts, and am happy to pay an extra $35k for a guy playing in the middle in a team which has lost its best forward than a makeshift centre.

Yeah agree with this. It isn't the 80s and 90s, with guys playing in a mudpit with a slippery leather ball that when waterlogged resembles a brick.

Conditions are never anywhere near that bad these days.

Teams, if they play differently at all, will concentrate on the basics more - structure/shape, up the middle, long kicks - while not necessarily making more mistakes. Probably means halves are more influential and potentially more appealing.

    Or, TL;DR - it's Nathan Cleary lads.

Sort of noticed that when its proper wet the ball handling and general gameplay is actually pretty good. Its those half half in between slightly slippery games that have a lot of dropped ball. When its greasy.

Anyway I hope the forecast is wrong and the weather is reasonable by Friday evening onwards.

Hoping the weather is ok-ish. Would be a shame if Magic Round is a bit of a washout. Would've thought aside from having the best stadium, the point of Brisbane is the weather is generally good. Don't let us down!

It's been raining for about 6 months, more on than off. I don't think I had to have the aircon on once this summer

Haven't stopped tinkering. Now looking at Papenhuyzen to Teddy coz he's a keeper, he fixes Pap's red dot, he's playing well and has a nice BE of 10.There are Origin concerns though.

Also, Tago to Burbo. He's not a perfectly shiny cow, but he has some pedigree, may play RD 13, allows a reasonably cheap red dot if he loses his spot, and he gets some of that nice cash out of Tago who has a high BE and could easily score a 20 in RD 13.

This has been the hardest round to make the right moves for me. Lots of players on the table to choose from.
