I really want to captain Munster this week, even though I know it's a very risky move given his low ownership and the fact that I own Cleary.

I just have a feeling about him, he's on a huge run and always stands up in big games, not to mention whenever Papy's been off the field this year, he's usually started racking up bulk fantasy points as he starts doing stuff that Papy would have normally done

The head says captain Cleary, the heart says captain Munster and back the Storm boys in for the win

Not sure there have been any terminal mass-forum decisions this year...

There's no doubt that starting with Moses would have better than starting with Sexton for a lot of people, but Sexton was far from a universal pick. (Moses, at around the same price, was a bit of an oversight in pre-season discussions though).

Billy Smith was a sensible pick pre-season. Again, not everyone went for him, but those that did could either correct early or have a handy looping dot.

Tass looks like a bad buy. Talakai straight after his tonne had plenty of warning signs but still could be a centre keeper - just that money could have better placed elsewhere. Think he was probably more popular off the forum than on it too.

Stefano was a popular guy preseason who didn't do what we expected, but hardly a terminal pick.

Big problem for many has been overtrading and jumping off eg. Tolo or Burton or even Ted (or even Hynes) too soon, but again not unique to this forum, except the last part.

Think the main key for starting sides might have been the four $750-$800k forwards at the start of the season (Haas, Cook, Angus, Difita) where most people could afford two of them and the people who started with Haas and Cook (or Murray or Grant) would have a serious leg up.

All this captain talk & none on Haas. I know we assume he'll play about 50 mins due to his injury & Carrigan back but what if our assumption is wrong.

I think everyone should captain the player in their team who will score the most points

In all seriousness though, and I'm not going to do it (but is my VC), I don't mind Burton as captain. Will kick it about 9000 metres in the wet, running game will be helped I'd imagine, and playing dreadful knights.

TU:Papy to Turbo and Jones/Thompson to Elliot
TD: Papy to Ponga and Jones to Cotter(could do Coates to TPJ instead but means playing Koula in 17)

Bringing in Burton and Ponga when they play each other feels dirty but that’s also trades I’m considering for Papy and Jones. Burton may wait til next week though as I feel like Elliot should come in

I'm doing A. Might be a dumb move, but I think Turbo is due for a massive game, and getting in before origin which will deter a lot gives me a leg up. Hoping he has some dramatic price rises with a few big scores over the next 5 (10,11,12,15,16) to make him hard to bring in round 18. 725k seems like a bargain to me.

Then again he might average 40 over that period and drop a further 100k Lol

Manly play on the Sunday after Origin 1, so some hope of him playing Round 14 as well. (Yes, I'm bringing him in this week too.)

Billy Smith a bit harsh. I don’t think anyone spent a trade getting him in.

its shit for the spectacle but itll be ok. the surface drains well since they re-did the whole thing a couple years ago. it shouldnt break up like fields of old.

if you're going you just have to embrace it imo. get the rum jacket on early and accept youre getting wet.

I'm just concerned his shoulder is still not quite right and it will effect his performance

Multiple people were excited by the Eels early season draw. Personally, I thought the kick metres nerf impacted Moses floor by too much. After 2 weeks Sexton was scoring well enough that some people wanted to trade him in. Took a few weeks to turn to shite

There were a bunch of WFB/CTRs pre-season in the $300-$350k price range. Other than Crichton/Tago, none of them particularly excited me. (Billy Smith least of all given his average of ~30 with a try in every game)
Due to team structure, most people started with a few of Penisini, Smith, Berry, Coates, Paulo. In hindsight Penisini was the correct choice, and many people but they mainly had one of the duds too. I wouldn't have thought proliferation of any of those players was bigger on this site than elsewhere. For Smith in particular other fantasy groups were much bigger on him than we were.

Tass looks like a bad buy. Talakai straight after his tonne had plenty of warning signs but still could be a centre keeper - just that money could have better placed elsewhere. Think he was probably more popular off the forum than on it too.

Stefano had as many detractors as supporters in pre-season

There was no chance of Coates ever being a playable pick, he was always a 'stash in nprs and wait for a string of good scores' guy. Job now done. It would not have been worth holding this long if there were better cows but there havent been, so ultimately he's been one of the better ones now.

I thought he was playable tbh mate. Not many options at wfb when starting squads come together
