Anyone who gets Savage deserves the disastrous outcome. It should result in captaincy points taken away for the round actually.

    What's Savage like IRL?

Imagine... there were a lot of coin flips (at the time) and I chose the wrong one for each one to start the year. If I got them all the other way around, there would be a lot of saved trades that I spent trying to fix it and a lot higher rank with points gained

    Mahoney v Cook
    Crichton v Papali'i/Haas
    Walters v Ming
    Billy Smith v Tago

I'd totally forgotten that Cook started the season cheaper than Mahoney.

I know I had a reason for picking Mahoney over him, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Seems insane in hindsight Bang Bang

I think he was great R13 pickup and an ok one for R14.

I get he's cheap, but he was already pretty cheap - would've been on more radars if Tohu and Angus didn't exist.

Was always a good chance he'd get huge minutes and score accordingly this week minus Cotter. My guess is he's going to score more like R1-9 than R13 going forward. 49 average, which good but not great.

Feels like chasing a bit to me.

My reasoning was that he had no Origin, so that's a headache avoided. And thought he would get more amongst the Eels attacking points in a good early season draw..

That's right. I watch maybe 1 game per week and listen to a few on the radio. So, I don't know why Loomer you were saying Savage is a shit pick. Is it because he is no good in real life, fantasy or both?

Great reading this morning on the forum.

Dont put him in the gun shop.

I think he is a gr8 mover, alot to learn though. No good for fantasy yet, a cashout only.

Just needs to slow it down and gain confidence in 1st grade.

He's just a cash out for me.

    With some possible upside.

Not taking the piss at all. Not a fan of doing that with people I don't know. I was just curious why youu don't like Savage as a pick because at the moment I have him and when I read your comment it gave me second thoughts,

    Or was it Loomer's comment?

    Anyway, ATM I'm getting Savage.

One of my fond memories is from three years ago.
We travelled to Rarotonga for a weeklong mid-year break.

As it turned out I had booked it for the first bye-week.
I'm usually a fairly bye-focused player and normally cut my rank significantly in the two bye-rounds.

I was ranked 996th heading into it with good bank and 4 big trades planned (but didn't want to trade too early in case of late outs).

Anyway, arrive in Rarotonga and discover that despite being Vodafone with roaming data in like 150+ countries, the Cook Islands was not one such place.
We were staying in an AirBnb type house, and basically the setup is a Router, you purchase a Wifi code from the local Supermarket and that's how you get internet access.

So rush out on the Friday evening, drive 1/4 of the way round the island, spend like $50 for 500MB, get home and discover the router is on the Fritz and find out that BlueSky? (the local ISP) will come fix it on Monday, pretty much everything but the market shut over the weekend.

Still, tropical island, what are you going to do... drink lots of cocktails on the beach is what

Thats when you use your phone a friend lifeline.

He scored 109 in Round 1 the previous year, followed it up with a 75 - it left an imprint...
Honestly, I think a little bit of it is that our brains are wired to the "it could happen again"...

That and he was one of the standout hookers last year and you potentially get to play him for 16 straight games.

    Yeah would agree with this.

One of those runners that makes it look like people are stationary when they aren’t. But not sure hes got the link player ability all the good FBs do these days yet to rack up the points. Also think he’ll get found out a bit defensively, like other young FBs like Campbell/Sloan etc

Outside this week if you have to play him it’s hoping for one big play.
