I don't understand why everyone is going off Cleary as cappo.

Cleary isn't the number 1 scorer anymore, so he's not an automatic captaincy pick anymore. He's definitely a good captaincy pick but unlike last year, you can captain other players and not lose too much.

Two reasons for me is just the fact he only got a 45 against Parra last time and the unknown around SoS coming into the side, he's a much better kicker than Luai so he might take a few kicks off Cleary.

At the end of the day it's still Cleary so can't go wrong, I'm just feeling Hynes as my captain this week and rolling with it

Thats a fair point with SOS I guess, but it's still his team and he'll be calling the shots.

    Psychology

People no longer worried about where they finish, rank while not set kinda, most people have less to play for if not in the top 50, so can take calculated risk

Another reason is with all the cash out/gun upgrades teams are homogenising, cook, haas, teddy, cleary, Hynes, Mitchell etc, with less variety a rogue captain is a chance to find an edge

Feels like I’m in the minority but no trades for me this week. Mainly because any decent moves would involve two trades with a cash out and big upgrade. Not comfortable leaving myself with only 2 trades and 5 rounds remaining.

Will be on Cotter watch this week. Could be a great POD available at sun $700k for the last few rounds

I like the first option. Koula, Saab and Palasia are all trades and you get a genuine gun out of it. I reckon 4 trades left is still solid, that'll be more than most. I think I'd take option 3 off the table personally.

EDIT: just saw option 4, that's the way to go. Two mid rangers to gun/cow. When in doubt I reckon keep it simple and  gun + milchcow (or cashout in this case) is the way to go. Ideally loop two of Booth/Palasia/Mbye this week and hope for the best.
Thanks certainly helps to take options off the table.

Option 4 does mean keeping Koula in my 17 however.

As i say good to take options off the table then I come up with more things like

    Koula to Moses
    Edwards to Pappy
    Palasia to Mbye
    Saab to Leniu

Lolo, Kennedy and RFM to Butcher, Cook and Mbye. Only leaves me one trade but ranked 3500 I’ve  got nothing to lose.
Leaves me with this lot who are worth 13.335million.

Meanwhile, Manly Supporters’ Group spokesman Robert Simeon has taken aim at the club’s management over the execution of its plan to become the first NRL club to run out in an LGBTQI+-themed jersey.

Simeon declared fans would be furious if the Manly lost the potential top-eight deciding game on Thursday due to a lack of consultation with and understanding of its players.

“The Polynesian players are deeply religious and if the chairman of the Manly Sea Eagles (Scott Penn) is only just working that out now it just highlights how little he knows about the makeup of these people,” Simeon told Sunrise.

“I just think he’s trying to buddy up with Hugh Jackman, I’m not sure if Hugh Jackman is interested in that.

They knew this wasn’t going to go down well which is why they kept it a secret. You don’t print thousands and thousands of jumpers overnight.

“They’re gonna be calling for blood, it won’t be the players it’ll be directed back to the hierarchy of Manly

“My message to the Manly fans is very simple, don’t be judgmental put yourselves in the shoes of these fine young men and ask yourself the same question how would you feel if you were put in that position.”

I'd go the other way and assume that Luai being out and the inclusion of SOS means Cleary will take even more responsibility, if that's possible. Makes me even more keen to captain him. Might pick up a few of Luai's try assists I'm thinking. I'd be shocked if SOS take's any of Cleary's kick metres personally.

What, is he going to teach them how to abuse their pregnant wives or something?

What a scumbag, should have been shunned from the game, not getting cushy positions like this!
