Ian Roberts will say it better than I ever could. I can't believe there are real people who think not being homophobic is posturing or pandering, fucking lunacy

Oh please give me a break. Let's compare a race of people who were enslaved and exploited for hundreds of years with an uncomfortable gay man. That's truly disgusting.

Can we have a Jewish day while we are at it?

Probably a sign you have run out of logical ways to carry on this debate.

    Thanks for playing.

I would direct your attention to BLM which really took hold of American sport. Convince me that did more good then harm..

The True beauty of sport is it transcends differences in race, sexuality, religion and politics. It's equalises for everything other than sporting ability. Believe it or not that is what brings people together. Not pointing out differences like we seem to be so motivated to do now.
You: Sport is fantastic because it's a great equaliser.

Also you: The shirt that promotes equality is dumb.

Sport, does not require it. It's organically equal. Making a statement creates controversy. So say nothing or say everything.

My last comment. I'm off it.

    Bird or Mbye?

Bird still averaged 41 last year at CTR (pre rule changes)

Not too worried about the move, probably moves back to forwards when Ramsey back after next 2??

The employer of these players (Manly) has stated their values and it clearly doesn’t align with these players in a big way. How are they personally ok with representing the club any other week going forward?

I mean, it isn't. This type of argument presumes that rugby league is in a great place when it comes to creating equal opportunities for all. That we're in a good place when it comes to combating racism, sexism and homophobia. And given some of the behaviour of the people involved in the game in even the extremely recent past, this clearly isn't the case. It's a good thing for organisations to articulate where they stand on these issues, and to take meaningful steps to try to create an environment where there actually is equal opportunity and tolerance for all. The fact that there is only one man in the history of professional men's rugby league in Australia to come out as openly gay shows that there is much work to do here.

Kennedy + McInness to Mybe and Murray is pretty tempting. Leaves 0k - a sign?

Would you do that with 3 trades left?

(Pending Finucane judiciary result, will hold McInness if he's banned).

Haven't commented in awhile but i want to say i hope Manly get smashed by 50+ on Thursday night. Season on the line and 7 homophobes decide not to get out the park. We are meant to be about equality these days. I'm glad i am not religious as religion discriminates against difference which does not even harm them. Send me to hell i don't care because who wants to go to heaven when it is full of people against difference which does not harm them. This world is a disgrace that there are people out there that still don't respect difference in this world that doesn't even harm them. What a sad world we live in.

Yeah well put, the whole 'sport is a great equaliser' thing is one of the great myths.

Rugby league might be slightly different (don't know the exact stats), but in a whole bunch of sports where you went to school and your background play a massive part. As with all other walks of life, people from privileged backgrounds have a huuuuuge headstart.

In cricket for example, 63% of players who played international cricket for England, Australia or India in 2020 were privately educated: https://prettyprogressive.com/study-reveals-63-of-international-cricketers-are-privately-educated/

Just one of hundreds examples of massive structural and societal blockers that prevent sport from being anywhere near 'organically equal'.

It's these sort of things that the Manly 7 are protesting actually go some way to redressing that!
