Imagine this applied to top NRL players, a $250k fine.
Not sure that it would stand up in employment court.
I can't think of any other industry where for doing the wrong thing they don't pay you 25% of your contracted salary.

Is it actually a 25% of a salary fine, or a fine that represents 25% of her salary. If it’s the later, then I don’t care. If it’s the first. That’s stupid. Fines should be flat, and not proportional to anything other than the offense itself.

Its all suspended. Put your personal feelings aside and behave on social media as if you’re a public figure. I can’t wait for the Vlandys era to end but it’s just not that hard to control yourself from saying something that you know will be controversialmattnz wrote:25% of salary seems steep.

From what I read it was phrased as a fine equivalent to 25%of her salary I.e not based upon her salary.
So to some degree it's journalistic spin - however another way of looking at it is that a similar value fine would have a less proportionate impact to the more highly paid male counterparts.
It's a suspended fine though, so maybe more added as a incentive to tow the line...
