I'm aware this is likely just the usual media platitudes from a new player - he's hardly going to say the new club is the same or worse than the old one - but it did crack me up wondering how bad the Tigers are if a player is impressed by the Dragons training setup.

Dare I say it? When you're in the pre-season squad, the other players will look fit compared to training in the rehab group (like pretty much every year Liddle has been at the Tigers).

but probably Valynce Te Whare IF he grabs a CTR spot (which sounds very possible)

If Stone or Katoa get starting spots they'll be some of the most selected players in the game.

Update on my Nanna (you guys know she’s been very sick, I’ve been seeing her weekly) she is feeling so sick today its because the cancer is everywhere more tumours popping up everywhere, cancer is in the bones now too scans showed. She’s too weak to even stand and walk so so frail.

She won’t go home again my Aunty has cared for her at home and in and out of hospital as long as she can. Nanna will be going from the hospital to respite/hospice. We were preparing for it but you don’t wanna hear it. I’m seeing her tomrrow. Palliative doctor is coming soon to talk to my Aunty and Nanna. Nanna knows she’s very sick but doesn’t fully know what’s going on due to dementia which mightn’t be a bad thing.

I been to the dentist again too for chipped baby teeth thete are no adult teeth under 8 of them. My teeth are more vulnerable from the acid as I have reflux but the medication isn’t strong enough I need to see GP to get a stronger medicine soon too. I have reflux always but it’s flared up with stress.

I have hiatus hernia too where stomach enters chest wall. People say stress less but the last 1-2 years haven’t been good for me.

Certainly for me and the family it doesn’t feel like Christmas season!

Asked an AI to come up with a team of 17 players with generic NRL sounding names and this is what it came back to me with:

    1. Jarrod Mortimer (Fullback)
    2. Josh Meninga (Wing)
    3. Wilbur Tuivasa (Centre)
    4. Nick Farrar (Centre)
    5. Luke Wedesky (Wing)
    6. Brad Davis (Five-Eighth)
    7. Braidon Pearce (Halfback)
    8. Ryan Coote (Prop)
    9. Jamahl Stewart (Hooker)
    10. Bill Kennedy (Prop)
    11. Mike Solomona (Second Row)
    12. Will Pearce (Second Row)
    13. Isaac Tuimavave (Lock)
    14. David O'Connor (Interchange)
    15. Jake Ryan (Interchange)
    16. Rod Reynolds (Interchange)
    17. Tom Lawler (Interchange)

Rod Reynolds should be in the 13 jersey IMO, much better player than Tuimavave

Garner picking up CTW piques my interest assuming they add that in fantasy too. Priced at 33 with a historical 2rf avg of 49, should be replacing Kikau on the left for Penrith.

It seems that Supercoach has finally given up on waiting for the NRL to confirm a salary cap, and have launched their team picker with a cap of $10.0 mil.

They operated a fantasy squad of 25 in 2022 and have left that as is.

My early take is we will probably see a bunch of forwards increase their average by roughly 5 points. Not enough to make decent cash but will be in a few teams early days. Milford and SOS probably split the kicking making neither particularly good value.

Hammer slightly under valued based on fullback games, Katoa and Te Whare probably most likely to be decent cows when they get a run

Damien Cook extends with Rabbitohs til end of 2025.

Great news a key re-signing. He will help young Mamozelos well in his development too. Cookie still a top 5 hooker in this comp too and a great clubman!

I'm so happy about this, he's earned the right to retire as a Rabbitoh. I think Mamo starts getting game time either mid this year or in 2024. Cook could even shift to lock mid-game to cover Murray and give him a break - Cook's defence is obviously elite so could help ease the burden somewhat. Similar to what Penrith did with Kenny and Koro in the finals last season

Mamo is gonna be a gun too. Seriously impressed me with his attack so far in his limited first grade appearances, and doing a long internship under Cook is only gonna help him improve

Could be one worth a punt on. Knights have Warriors, Tigers, Dolphins, Raiders, Manly, Warriors, Cowboys, Panthers, Eels then a bye to start with
