I am picking Tapine over him for a few reasons. Haas has a better supporting cast this season, Taupau provides a solid 45 minutes off the bench. Carrigan is fully fit, so they don't need him playing huge minutes.

Tapine has less competition for minutes with Sutton and Elliot gone. The move to lock is an encouraging sign for more minutes as well. Raiders fall apart when ever he isn't on the field, so they need to maximise his minutes. Can also keep him all season without needing to trade him out and only misses 3 games all season.

JDB sitting high on my radar. With the Dragons bench he looks set for 80 and with another season under his belt post-scandal is prime. Lawrie also a thought.
If sullivan is available at HLF, the plan was to play bird as big minute lock, like he finished last season.

At the same price point you can get Harris with massive upside as huge minute lock.

I think his time we be monitored and controlled like after his injury. Not based on any specific evidence and probably more so mid year when Hetherington returns but with Carrigan playing big as lock then Jensen, Haas, Flegler, Taupau and Palasia rotating through the front row I don’t see Haas as the ‘gun’ he once was (Palasia also doing some edge work if required but should be minimal with Riki and Capewell).

Probably won't be flogged for 80 as he has at times. But he doesn't need to. Haas has a career average filtering for over 40 and under 70 minutes of 62.7 in 62 minutes (59 games). Priced at 56. Doesn't miss a game until origin. What more do you want?

The main intention for Walker is that he comes on at 13. So maybe Tohu still gets big minutes, but it won't necessarily be at lock. Though there's a giant need for front rowers on the Warriors. So minutes in the middle regardless.

Tbh the way Tohu, looked last year, admittedly coming back from injury, I'd be expecting the Warriors to manage his minutes as much as possible. Though realistically the Warriors aren't going to have too many opportunities to give their best players a rest, but when they can I expect he's the first to get a shower.

He is the captain. They will keep him on the field as much as possible.

What are you basing JDB's 80 minutes on?

For the trial they've named a 13 man bench, and De Belin isn't even in the 24man squad. Seems a bit of a leap to go from that to having him play 80 minutes (which he never did last year)

Probably their squad. It's pretty weak in the forwards. JDB may get a brief rest but with Bird moving to 6 you'd think JDB plays closer to 80 than 60-odd.

Eh that isn't how that always works. Obviously different coaches, but Mannering would get an early shower when they had the luxury for example.

Webster has been pretty clear that Walker is firstly training to come on in the middle and play like he did for Manly. Then being Mr Fix it beyond that. So at minimum Tohu shifts to prop for him.

His body is bashed up, he's been around a while now, and they need him to last the season.

Tohu is 31. Not saying he’s over the hill but minutes only tend to go one way once you get to that age

Any news on Mad Jack Hetherington? Thought he might get starting edge spot over Fitzgibbon but nowhere to be seen in a big trial squad

Agree, if he starts this year like he finished last year, you will be bitterly disappointed 22, 39, 42 and 30 .... or if he starts the season like he did last year with 1 score over 45 in the first 7 rounds. He had a purple patch in the middle of the season, but surely he is a great opportunity to wait until he has had a run of poor scores, to pick him up at $550k, like you could last season, after starting at a similar price to what he is now.
