Yeah more likely 20-25 minute cameos for taupau this season. Probably be 18th man when hetho returns though that will all depend on form

Taupau averaged 50 minutes in 2021. Seemed to be out of favour last season. Still has plenty to offer and means they can have him on the park with one of
Carrigan or Haas and the team doesn't suddenly fall apart.

Carrigan is the big dawg now. Flegler Jensen and Taupau decent support, with Hetho to return

Big Rick was quality for me start of last year, considering starting with him again

Wasn't he GK last season mate? I think adding 6-8 additonal points of scoring based on "he’s gonna score more tries and attacking stats too" is just a wild stab. He scored 6 last season which I'd guess is at the upper end for a half already?

All the elite, top level halves kick the piss out of the ball, it's where you can safely add easy ponts onto an average when a player changes teams or roles etc. Burton already kicks the piss out of the ball so no additional there.

I think he goes around 51-54 personally, so i'm still looking at him

Flanagan was GK for a few games early in the season. And the dogs should score a few more tries. Burton averaged 2.0 goals per game. Most GK's average about 3.5 or closer to 4 goals for good teams/kickers. I'd say he's about 3 points (1.5 goals) undervalued on GK alone.

What is the go with Ford being named starting second row at the warriors? Hadn’t even considered him but with dpp and potential starting second row is he a potential cheapie sleeper?

Probably more an actual TLT rather than preseason TLT question 😜

MOD: I have removed the name as it's under name suppression which is weird considering you can just look up the Brisbane magistrates court list and the name is right there on page 14 or so.

I could go Cheese and Boyd in the 14 but my concern is Roosters have a bye round 4 and if Boyd is dropped around that time which could happen if the Titans lose a few games then I’d be left with no hooker.

Initially I had Robson but downgrading to Mahoney allows me to get a second middle gun. And I liked what I saw from Mahoney the other night not rushing out of the line, running the ball a bit and playing at the line.
I’d much prefer a Brailley over Mahoney, probably the Cronulla variety.

HSS will get DPP when named at wing -he’s 250k and should be safe for four or five price rises.

I wouldn’t trust trial benches too much. When is Jazz back? A kiwi on a SC site a couple of weeks ago suggested Egan would be playing 80 mins.

Anyone else going cold on Robson? I’ve had him in my team from the opening, but surely he doesn’t start the season playing 80 minutes. Is he an avoid as long as Granville is on the bench? I’m now considering a Brailley or even Egan as they are more likely to play 80.

His 70+ minute hooker average last year wasn't that flash. 45 from 9 games. Previous years have been better.

Dunno that you can say "surely". It's certainly possible though, it happened last year. *Possibly* down to not wanting him to play 80 in the hottest month of the season in the hottest place in the NRL, but that would be speculation, who knows which way they'll go

Granville on the bench wouldn't tell us anything, Robson has played plenty of 80s with JG at 14. Granville *not* on the bench would tell us something.

Lol (sort of)... Josh McGuire starts off his super league career by getting a seven match ban for discriminatory language in a testimonial pre-season friendly after calling an opponent a "fucking spastic".

Do you not remember Wiliame in 2020

Even if Thompson plays only R1 he’ll probably score more than Wiliame all season

Hope everyone's had a great off season. Just caught up on the last 20 pages and listened to a few SC podcasts to start my nrl season prep for 2023!

Some awesome info here has helped me made a good start to my nrlf and sc teams. Quick question - would love an answer or a reply to a message if I've missed this.

Who are the likely goal kickers for each team? Thinking of getting 1-2 players who look OK value that could be good value with the additional 6-8 pts from GK this season.

    My guesses:

    Broncos: Reynolds
    Bulldogs: Burton (small chance Flanagan)
    Cowboys: Holmes
    Dolphins: O'Sullivan
    Dragons: Lomax
    Eels: Moses
    Knights: Ponga (possibly Hastings)
    Panthers: Cleary
    Rabbits: Mitchell
    Raiders: Fogarty
    Roosters: Walker
    Sea Eagles: Garrick
    Sharks: Hynes
Storm: Meaney (maybe Papi when fit)
    Tigers: Doueihi
    Titans: Boyd
    Warriors: Johnson
