I don't really see them averaging THAT much more than Haas, but the difference between Carrigan and a cheap middle will be significant. If I made that change my lineup would be

    Grant
    Haas Tapine Carrigan
    Edge edge
    Hastings Doueihi
    Ctr ctr
    Wfb wfb wfb

Definitely would be risky going for no gun backs, but that forward pack looks very appealing

I get that he is a leader & will prob get big minutes but his numbers don’t look that great from last season

You clearly didn’t watch him play last night.

Most of the scores I am interesting in from Hastings were made up of monster base stats against good teams.

Small sample size but once he got the starting halfback gig in round 6 until getting injured in round 11, Hastings played against Eels, Rabbitohs, Dragons, Sea Eagles and Cowboys. In that period he averaged 59 with 0 tries, 3 assists, 0 linebreaks and 10 LBA

And now that he looks set to be the GK, he's about 5-6 points undervalued from GK alone. Not a bad shout.

I'm really torn. On the one hand is exactly what you have said, great base stat scoring with some upside but on the other these two trial games he's had mostly the role hoped for, lots of touches, but it has translated into really poor scoring. I think he's one I'm going to let through to the keeper then FOMO buy a week or two to late then have him disappoint me for the rest of the season, for an exact repeat of last season.

I’m all for finding value but rule #1 of Fantasy 101 is pick who you think will average the highest to be your Captain.

Your forward pack does look appealing, especially the edge brothers, but also looks like you will be running a captaincy poll every week.

You are 100% correct AL. One of Hynes Cleary or Murray, two if possible

Cleary and Murray for me at the moment

Appreciate the thoughts.. This is the first time this pre-season that I've strayed from the idea of Captain Cleary. Will likely end back up there, I just can't shake the warm fuzzies I get from looking at 4 season long keepers in my forward pack.

    HELP!!!!
While mucking around with my team draft - I ended up with all 4 Knights (Hasting / Ponga / Elliot / Milller) too many and even as a Knights tragic, so obviously a dumb play.

    Problem is they offer value.
(Which says more about Fanhub's view of their potential than anything else).

Fixed one - Ponga > E.Katoa (saves me some coin and likely to start on the Storm Edge with Sims injured).

    Draft:
    Boyd
    Haas / L.Thompson / Cotter
Loiero / Hosking (or Garner) whichever gets the starting Edge role
    Cleary / Douehi
    Alamoti / I.Thompson
    CNK / TMM / Perham

    Hopgood / Cheese / Hastings / Katoa
    Doorey / Stone / HSS / Talau

    $90k ITB

    Forwards are strong.
C & VC options are fine.
Back 5 are weak - but apart from Teddy there's really no premium WFB I'm interested in.
Ponga, Turbo, Pappy et al are all wait and see for mine.

Feel free to point out all the obvious problems.

How out there would it be to start with 300k in the bank?

Am thinking of keeping the cash for Turbo / Cleary after their byes if they are doing good things or jump on the next big thing after a couple of weeks (fyi this is about draft idea 75, so about 150 versions to go before a round 1 game 😜)

Still have all the mid range edg (Katoa, loiero, Hopgood, Panthers starter), boyd, cheese, Tapine, Carrigan and Captain Hynes so several secure scorers there.

A casual 72 points in around 70 minutes. Even with Haas on the field looks like he’ll play big minutes and definitely commanded and received the ball more than anyone else, which was probably the biggest difference I seen between last night and last season.

done some shuffling and dropping Robson/Grant for Carrigan has really helped out my 17-18 spot

    Smith
    Murray Hass Carrigan
    Garner Katoa
    Cleary Burton
    Thompson Alamoti
    Miller CNK Perham

    Hopgood Boyd Loiero Russell
    TMM Warbrick HSS Sloan

gone the cheap back 5 however have filled my bench with WFB so that spot looks solid for players only major weakness is the Centre Spot.

Been able to fit in the big guns with Cleary Murray Hass with Burton Carrigan and i dont think I look too weak on the bench.

    Any thoughts?

Yeah think I'm going with a rule this year of no dragons players in my side. Had a mate in Mudgee who went to watch the Charity Shield game yesterday who told me most of the Dragons players were out after the game until like 2am in the pub smashing vapes and talking to females when these players have a wife and kids smh.

Seems like they got a terrible club culture at the moment and therefore definitely can't trust them on the field or trust them to keep their spot.

    2023 NRL FANTASY LEAGUES REGISTRATION

Keep an eye on your inbox. League codes will be going out over the next day or two. And for the love of God, if you've changed your team name from the one you registered with, can you let a mod know. Thanks.

To what degree do we ignore PVLball stats? I can’t stop thinking about how JBrailey averaged almost 70 over the first 10 rounds of 2021 when he was last fully fit.

Also, without ignoring his 5MTs- 50 tackles by Kenny in 65 mins during the WCC has me thinking about him again. If he plays a 60:20 split with Sonny he probably finds himself 10 points of value, priced at only 25. The devil is not knowing the split and 50 minutes is not enough.
