I find myself curious as to whether Billy Burns will be in the starting side for the Saints in R2. Was just looking at the predicted team lists and they have Fuimaono starting. I'd think surely not to that, but either way, going to be pretty unlikely to take the punt on it going into R1, surely. Unless one were to pass on Sloan all together and go the Burns route instead...

Too soon to be weighing up such thoughts, but this is what I find myself doing.

Honestly the only one worth looking at after that trial is maybe Lawrie.

Surely they keep BMM there since he started in both trials and did a decent job.

The magnitude of this victory is remarkable

    Penrith don’t lose at home
English sides haven’t won this fixture in aus since 1994
    Penrith back to back premiers
Salary cap 3 times bigger in NRL

From the first minute, when they shoved on, the saints were into it

    Great game of league

Glory Glory really enjoyed that the boys looked good. Looked quite fit better than this time last year!

What do we make of Sloan it was such a mixed bag. Can we trust Griffin to pick him round 2?

Haven’t seen the Penrith game back yet but why did Garner score so poorly?

Because he’s not very good, particularly in defence. When he left the Tigers I don’t think anyone was that upset -Luciano is another story.

Same reason he couldn't make the team for the wooden Spooner's half the time.

yeah garner worries me as do the panthers & the lack of spark due to no koroisau in the middle & no kikau providing the punch out wider.
also the extreme weather & rain last night did st helens a massive favour & made the game more of a level playing field. no rain imo panthers win.

Any reason why Robson racked up so many MT in trial yesterday?

He’s been in and out of my team, not locked in but if he’s going to consistently get 80 he’s underpriced with one of the best bye schedules

i didn't see the game but in 2022 he missed 3 or more tackles in 9 games in fact he averaged 2.2 mt per game which isn't bad but he has games where he'll miss 1 tackle & games where he'll miss 5 tackles. maybe he flies in too fast to make the tackle & he can't adjust if the ball runner steps or changes direction.

    Quick TU/TD:

TU: (C)leary + Keppie (or some other cheap Mid)
TD: Carrigan + Hastings (with Haas/Grant as captain)

Absolutely. Does wonders for the perceived quality of the super league too - I know a lot of Aussies raise their eyebrows when our rejects (Dufty, Croft, Field and the like) go over and seem to instantly dominate. A SL club beating an NRL club who has lost 9 games in the last 3 seasons is unfathomable.

Surely everyone needs a Cleary or a Hynes to (C)? Running without either seems affraid

Surprised to see so many going cold on Hastings due to the team he will be playing in as if the Tigers didn't take the spoon and score less points than the Knights

Most of the scores I am interesting in from Hastings were made up of monster base stats against good teams.

Small sample size but once he got the starting halfback gig in round 6 until getting injured in round 11, Hastings played against Eels, Rabbitohs, Dragons, Sea Eagles and Cowboys. In that period he averaged 59 with 0 tries, 3 assists, 0 linebreaks and 10 LBA

Why is everyone so big on carrigan?
I get that he is a leader & will prob get big minutes but his numbers don’t look that great from last season

      Current date/time is Sat Nov 23, 2024 10:53 am
