He looked good but, unsurprisingly, faded. WTF was with Arthur not using Makatoa on the bench? (Not for Hodgson, but in general you'd think it would have helped)

Sims will start lock or move into it at various times from the second row?

He looked pretty good. Fit and probably the most straight bat game ive seen him play.

Wonder what the party has in store next week, it is never dull, one way or the other

It's not really a party when he plays like that. More a coffee morning.

King will ultimately lose minutes, but looked really good and looks trimmed up!

Could be another King battle this season

How do you know Bird will play at lock? Could be half, could be 2nd row. Unless you have heard something from sources?

I am just going off what Bird said himself and he played a little bit of lock last year (Often would move into the middle as well)
Said he was happy he would probably play there and he was happy he could focus on one position now
Sullivan is the other half and De Belin who played last year is viewed as a prop now
Basically it's not concrete but it is his best position

To answer your Bird question, the minute I saw the option to get a starting lock in the centres he jumped into my team
And yes I wanted an insurance policy on Cartwright at 18, just like you get insurance on a party bus
It's not my prediction, I just wanted a cheap ticket for another ride for old time sakes

Goes without saying right? He played 84 minutes, but If Sims comes back I see him doing more damage to the front rowers minutes or even potentially Katoas, lad looked completely gassed.
Either way I’m happy to sit on the bin chickens price rises in the meantime. I thinking 60+ mins till Kamicamica comes back.

    Literally though.

How good are the Storm? Losing 3 long term stalwarts from that pack in the off season. Losing high quality CTR in the pre season, losing one of the top attacking threats from the spine in the game for early season?

Just an absolute machine of a club, incredible coaching! Just a joy to watch them every week/season

I expect him to be mostly a MID. Today they were missing a genuine MID that can play bigger minutes off the bench.

I don’t think he will tonne up he can’t play 75-80mins each week he will burn out.

At Souths training on Wednesday Moale and Chee Kam were training in the starting side and Arrow off the bench with Tom in a middle role. If that’s how it stays is anyone’s guess! I still think Murray gets around 70mins. We do get Host and Sele back round 3/4 as well.

Hmm not sure mate, I think Murray gets between 67 and 73 mins

Saddest thing about tonight, after the fact that the Eels lost, is that I actually had Paulo in my Draft team... on the bench. Sad

Bummed I didn't RSVP in time for the Carty Party, but the dudes I did pick all did pretty decent. As frequently noted, you can't have them all.

Good game, but pretty shit outcome, to be be fair, as an Eels fan. Solid Fantasy events.

I have a spreadsheet, round by round, by position, with each of my starting squad colour coded based on whether they play Origin, if they play enough key bye rounds etc. Currently have Tapine, Douehi, Hopgood, maybe Preston pencilled in as season keepers. All play 2 or 3 key bye rounds. It balances maximising scoring, with when I need the right cover in each position.

Guys like Penisini will be gold for that period, but will likely max at 3 Eels, as I also have Miller and it impacts round 14 when Knights and Manly also have a bye. All needs to be carefully managed, starting quite early.

    Yeah, but,

    what about the vibe?

Disclaimer: I am just here for the ride so my care factor is low and my risk factor is high.

Take any decision I make on a player with a pinch of salt and some are for the enjoyment of watching the player or a reason to watch the team (ie Dragons) as need something to help watch them haha

Will let others build the hill to die on, and will save my shovel for a player or 2 later on in the season.
I think off memory I talked up 3 last year.
Carrigan and Cotter early days and Bird mid season
So will chill for now as I don't have the stamina and see what I can find later when it's quiet in the season
I haven't even checked the bye list or a spreadsheet, this is a gut year haha

29 from warbrick for not seeing much ball and no attack stats is passable

Definitely don’t want to have to start him every week

For $230k if the down days are 29 points with no tries, I am happy starting him for a while, likely to have more pressing issues to deal with than that in my WFB.

I was so impressed with Loiero, he really is a Bellamy type of player, just does his job and does it well. He even moved to centre when Tonumaipea went off and did alright there, and I'm glad I have him in my team.

Katoa was also solid, though he had a bad start and seemed a bit gassed at the end, he may need Sims to take a few mins on that edge to keep him nice and fresh, but there's potential there.

Warbrick was also very impressive, got through plenty of work despite no ball in attacking space and he looks good in the air. I very much hope we can keep him in the team once everyone's healthy, him and Coates add so much to our set starts compared to Anderson and Ieremia getting dragged back 10m every time last year.

Discipline was still a bit shoddy but seems better than last year which is nice.
