Is there any information out there about why the Tigers started the season the way they did with their rotations? I heard Koro wasnt match fit which was why he started off the bench but I am probably more curiious about Twals minutes more than anything because from what I understood hes on the outer at the club?

I have tentatively opted at this stage to bring in Mark Nichols and the Hammer this week.

Even if you take out all his attacking stats Nichols had a beast game - 174 run meters and 32 tackles off the bench. I cant go past that.

Bennet might just have been the guy to get the hammer going. Not sure I can run 3 of Talau Alamoti Warbrick and Khan-Periera week to week so am upgrading that postion.

    Blore to Hammer
    Koro to Nichols

Yeah I'm very tempted to chase the money with Hammer and fix my 2nd CTR spot, 20 runs at fullback is enough for me to trust him now I think.

Cheese will probably be fine over the course of the season but I think I can put that money to better use

Uto to Hammer for me. I like Uto but need AKP out of my 17 ASAP. Seems the most reasonable escape.

Yeah that's a good one. I've got the problem where none of my guys over 300k are worth selling, and all my guys under that are struggling except Trindall.

I dodged Uto (got Ford), got both EKat and Loiero, and Egan Butcher isn't suspended so he's not really a sell either.

Only way I can get on cheapies like Hammer is taking a risk and selling Cheese (if Talau is out R2 I can single trade him to Thompson but I can't do that with AKP and if Talau's fit I want to keep him)

He didnt score as well but if Thompson keeps his spot at souths this week he would be another option. He looked super dangerous and his dual position and 80-90 k cheaper then the hammer. I am going hammer too but I am wary that the dolphins may have just been a 1 week wonder and Souths will be one of the premiership favourite teams this year

Just found sheens post match comments

"Let me start getting over this before I start thinking about that [next week]," he said.

“Joe [Ofahengaue] hasn’t played a game and Api hasn’t either...both coming off injury. Jake has played two games and then we put Api on, Joe the same.

"[It is] early season and tough football...particularly the guys who’ve come back and haven’t had a lot of pre-season. Api’s one of those - no excuses for him.

“But some guys started the second of November and others well into January. It’s been a little bit bringing Api into our system and making sure our halves are on the same page and we had a little bit of success with that, and a little bit of clunkiness.

"We didn’t throw it in - if the effort’s not there, I would be worried."

Wests were clunky and made some costly errors in the 12-point loss, but will be able to take some hard lessons moving forward.

Rugby league great and future Immortal Cameron Smith was one of many left confused by the decision to bench the Tigers captain in the opening round.

“You’ve named Api as captain and he’s a big buy in the off-season,” he told SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“He’s the best nine in the football club, I don’t understand why he doesn’t just start the game. Give yourself the best opportunity of starting well and possibly scoring some early points.

“It’s like they tried to replicate what the Panthers were doing last year and particularly in the finals. The thing is though, it’s a completely different set up...Api doesn’t have the same personnel around him at the Tigers than he did at Penrith.

“It’s very strange and I’d expect him to run on this week.”

In a welcome boost, the Tigers should welcome English second-rower John Bateman in the coming weeks, but Sheens isn't rushing with another one of his fresh faces.

A new history starts now in the Stan Original Documentary Series Dawn Of The Dolphins. Now streaming, only on Stan

“I won’t commit too much on that - John’s just landed, he’s settling in, still doesn’t know the players," he said.

“I’m not going to push him if we don’t think he’s ready. If it was a grand final this week he’d have played, put it that way.

“We’ve invested four years in him and I’m not going to ruin the opportunity early by pushing him through because we’ve lost a game."

Hammer made 20 runs yesterday, that's great news given his problem has always been base. Take away his attacking stats and try save and he still would have had 32 yesterday which is pretty good for a fullback.

Not a bad shout. I assume Milne comes in but stranger things have happened.

Ilias and Nicholls too assuming they maintain a 40-45 average but they'll plateau quicker and probably had their 'peak' games already

Already have Dorrey, Other than Carty & Mck, not many forward options under $345

The way the chooks looked last night they win one of those 6 and that's the bye

Bethany_B wrote:Am I insane to be considering selling Cheese to Hammer?

This time last week that trade would seem absolutely bananas, and it probably still is, but hear me out.

    * Cheese got absolutely drilled in the ribs and was sent for scans so there's probably something to it. Rib injuries are a fantasy killer as we saw last year with Frizell.

    * Given Lodge is out a few weeks (facial injury) and Radley misses at least one (concussion), there's a high chance Cheese plays mostly in the middle rather than at hooker, which is what happened in round 1 (Turpin played 60 mins at hooker)

    * The Chooks draw looks really bad and they're so depleted in the forwards I can't imagine they'll improve anytime soon (Warriors, Souths, bye, Parra, Storm, Sharks are their next 6), and Cheese will struggle to get attacking stats if not at hooker.

    * Hammer looked way more involved than he ever has been before, 20 runs is a lot by his standards and he will get opportunities backing up with JMK's work at 9

    * Having Hammer means I have a very secure back 5 (Bird, Hammer, Walsh, Miller, Warbrick with Alamoti and Talau as cover)

    * The trade leaves me $188k after my other trade (AKP to Carty Party) which I can use to get a hooker in for Boyd's bye

Of course, this could go horribly wrong if Cheese can get a try this week and Hammer goes back to his uninvolved self, but it's a tempting trade.

I'm sticking with Cheese, but will probably bring the Hammer in to strengthen my CTRs

Definitely, they look absolutely cooked and the Warriors middle could easily stomp them into the ground this week given how many middles the Chooks have out.

Hammer won't be playing a bottom 4 side every week, but I've always seriously rated him as a fullback prospect and he never left my team. He's always had more to his game than just being quick as fuck

Anyone making no trades? I'm leaning that way so long as team lists don't throw any curve balls.
Gonna be a looong season with byes and HIAs I feel.

looking at this now with Butcher not suspended. he probably would have gone 45+ without the send off so thats fine for his price.

id like to upgrade center but Thompson Alamoti is bareable for a few more rounds.
