Nothing useful on the Tigers forum. They've gone nuclear after the loss and are calling for half the team to be dropped or played out of position

Just realised Isaiah Papalii has a 1 match suspended. Hope Bateman is fit to go this week or it could start looking pretty dire

    - He takes a hit up every set
    - Every hit up is run with purpose, hard and straight, with a late step often, to try to beat the tackle
    - If you get in front of him, you get a fend
    - If you tackle him, he tries to offload

I can't recall a player that hates getting tackled with the ball in hand so much, and fights so hard to stop it happening.

His season last year was in 2 parts, the last 5 games of the season he averaged low 20s, (probably playing injured, and brought his price down to start this season). The rest of the season he averaged 47. This year he has stepped up again.

He also had a last 5 game stretch averaging about 20. Fair play I think he's a decent pick and I know you are here to win the whole thing or bust but it seems like a really high variance play for a team that's in a strong position already.

EDIT, misread, ignore first sentence you stated this as well but second part stands.

I have a workmate who I helped to pull together a good team to start the season.

He ended up with 3 players different to me. All 3 of the differences got injured this week in my team, and he is ranked just outside top 200.

Any reason you are captaining Haas? Hopgood looks to be putting up similar base stats, but also has the upside of serious attacking stats, more offloads, try assists and tries. Looks like Super-Haas for fantasy.

Going match-up dependent on captains in the absence of Cleary (this week) or Hynes. Just fancy Haas (84) against the Dragons more than Hopgood (58) at Manly. Will be a bit poddy as well. Not 100% on this, and know Hopgood will be the most popular pick for good reasons.

*edit* fun fact I've just discovered, Payne Haas has only played against the Dragons once in his entire career, last game of last season after the Broncos' year had fallen apart. Anyway, I'm pretty 50/50 between him and Hopgood tbh, it's just that it's on Haas currently.

*second edit* yeah, actually, looking at his stat lines hard to look past Hopgood until Matto back. Have kind of taken him for granted not concentrating on him because everyone has him. He really shouldn't be getting 80 minutes though in real life - that's cost the Eels both weeks.

There is also the "Never play your Captain on Thursday" rule

Generally works the other way, if you can play a captain in the first game of a round, it's best to do so.

I’m captaining Haas over Hopgood, for me it’s risk aversion, I know exactly what I’m getting from Haas, Hopgood has a 2 game run as a starter in a new team that is yet to record a win, his role is not yet set in concrete if Arthur decides he wants to play around with his rotations,

I could be wrong, but I think Moanaman may have been referring to the Thursday Night Captain Curse, which replaced the Monday Night Captain Curse.

But from a less superstitious point of view, you are right matt, playing your C early gives you a bit more mid round flexibility.

No real strategy other than that, will see how it works out

Ponga and Smith out for Walsh and Robson and 53k ITB

Could look at Koro,Mahoney,Liddle for savings but don't have any cowboys and he has nice byes
Gives me something like this but will see how it all looks tomorrow because plans never work out before 4pm tuesday

    Robson
    Carrigan Haas Hopgood
    Cartwright Chee Kam
    Cleary Moses
    Bird Talakai
    Walsh Miller Warbrick

    Preston EKatoa Loiero Ford
    IKatoa Alamoti Trindall HSS

I like this approach to the game. I might actually follow your lead. Can't fault you for getting Walsh in. What a talent he is, everytime he's got the ball in his hand, you think something special is about to happen.

Robson also quality, has really taken his game to another level.

Garlic Fact #2: if you use the smaller holes of a cheese grater or a microplane grater to grate garlic cloves, you'll get a similar consistency to garlic paste.

Also looked at him closely, want to see him string another game or two before bringing him in.

He had a perfect game in R2 with no demerits and a few bonus points like a TA, 2 TOs

But his base is improved from last year, now goal kicking (2 goals per game) and 100 extra km gives him +7 value right away. Warriors also play the first major bye, which helps I guess

For me its whether SJ is a better option than Hastings. I dont want to get stuck with Hastings losing cash and scoring low 30s. Id prefer Reynolds but don't have the cash

Yeah I guess I should keep him in mind this week still. I'm pretty sure he was on 27 at HT, then went down to 25 and stayed there until updates docked another point. I thought he looked knackered at around 54 mins and was about to get subbed, but then Couchman went down for Bird to return. Might not have affected the rotations being MIDs, but plan could've been Bird on for BMM and Couchman to EDG.

I'd be punting Talau for him and shouldn't be any slower of a burn than Talau was going to be.

Garlick still on the menu too. I have Grant, so could be a good handcuff, especially if I punt Boyd around the bye. Won't help Rd 9 though.
