I don't think either of them are really that good, but at least Cheese has job security, while Couchman is really only safe until Murderous Molo returns from suspension.

If Boyd is your only hooker and you're bringing in Cheese to cover that, then that's fine. He's one I have my eye on as a plan B if I can't make my 2-week plan work (basically Warbrick, Sloan, Alamoti and Loiero for Teddy, Tapine and 2 cheapies over the course of the next 2 weeks), as I will need a MID by round 12 since I have Ford as my 3rd MID and no cover.
I've got Robson as well, but thinking of contingencies if Robson is a smokey for origin.

Hmmm tough choices... at the end of the day I enjoy watching Smith play, especially on attack, so might just go him. If I absolutely must, I can go Hopgood > Couchman on Sunday and use those funds for Bird next week, Tapine the next.

Two scores over 30 and will be priced a touch over 20. Plays the first bye.

Other than Jesse Bromwich, no Dolphin has started prop 3 games in a row. So how confident are you that Stone has, secured the position?

He dies seem to be building his minutes up, and I'd probably trust him more than Couch an, but a little concerned about longer term scoring

Also would it kill them to add pictures to the desktop app? Cheese, Katoa, Thompson, Miller, Hopgood and Preston are all grey faces! It ruins the vibe man

Snatchpato wrote:Strongly considering getting Smith over Couchman.. Smith will be very handy over the origin period helping Boyd cover HOK and covering my MIDs. His DPP is much more valuable than Couch's MID/EDG considering the plethora of edges we all have, myself included.

What are your thoughts guys? In 50+ minute hooking games these are Smith's averages (filtered without Harry Grant to remove those games where Smith played like 15 minutes at hooker then 40+ at lock):

    2020: 54.8
    2021: 58.3
    2022: 51.7

Surely he's due a good score, and the Roosters are also slowly getting better each week. I feel like now might be a great time to jump on.

Edit: Only downside is I can't go Hopgood > Matto with my remaining funds. Perhaps I'll ride Hopgood one more week and move him on next week, or downgrade him to Couchman to free up funds for a trade next week.

Boyd doesn't play rounds 13 or 16, are you planning to hold him until round 19 to play him then? He is one that I plan to trade after round 12 (hopefully $600k+ by then and Crossland has added HOK dual), to get a guy like Harris in after the Warriors bye.

Smith isn't ideal HOK cover, doesn't play 13 or 19.

On Facebook saw that Martin and Garner both absent from captain's run.

So word on the shire might be wrong about them playing

Got Robson to pay 13/16 and Boyd to play 19, but plans will likely change well before then. If Robson plays origin I will have to pivot in the plans, probably grab Mahoney or something.

You don't necessarily need Cheese with Robson as your main hooker but I've found this year that trusting the eye test is the way to go, if you think Cheese passes the eye test then get him. Cheese and Robson actually combo pretty well in terms of bye coverage, as the only round where you wouldn't have either of them available is round 19, and basically no good hookers play that round anyway (Mahoney and JMK are the only ones I can think of).

    No Photo!

I don't mind if they're in the wrong jersey (though Hosking isn't so like, surely it's not that hard to update), at least I can see their beautiful faces!

    Yeah, my plan is:
    Crossland 13 HOK, 16 HLF.
    Mahoney 16 & 19 HOK
    SJ 13 and 19 HLF

it's more so that four teams haven't sent in updated photos for some reason - the Storm, Eels, Bulldogs and Knights.

Not at this point as I'm trying to get Teddy and Tapine in, but if I can't make the plan work (basically if Sloan and Warbrick are too shit to hold their prices), then I'll let Tapine wait until R13 and bring in Cheese as MID cover instead (or maybe McInnes if he looks like getting back to gun status)

I have Cook and Soni Luke who I brought in this week so I don't really need Cheese for HOK purposes, and I have three good MIDs (Haas Muz and Ford) who have no byes until Ford's in R12, so I don't really need Cheese at the moment.

Yeah fair, Tapine sounds like he can wait as well then (especially with his bye next week). You mostly just need some MID cover (or luck) for a few rounds. Reckon Teddy is in for a big one tonight, the train has just arrived at the station, time for coaches to start boarding. I'm personally getting on straight away to get a good seat.

I don't really need MID cover right away, I just need to get some by R12 so whether I buy Tapine in round 9 or 12 doesn't really matter. Ford will do at 3rd MID for now, and I'm playing him every week anyway so it doesn't really matter for now.

Teddy is my number 1 priority next week, as I can see him going on a run soon, so I'm hoping Warbrick and Sloan can do well enough to let me get Teddy and a cheapie next week.

He's the 'club captain'. Earned the right to go on his own terms etc. etc.
While I agree that it makes no sense from a football perspective, it does add to the club's appeal to future players to see that getting injured / old doesn't mean automatic kicked to the curb.

The last point is a really good one.
It is a business and people want to know that if they put the hard yards in there’s a reward for it in the latter years, no different from any of us with our jobs.
Every time the sombrero gets brought up the people within the club defend it with this, knowing if they do the right thing by the club they’ll get looked after.
So there’s a somewhat hidden value in a football perspective in that yes Graham’s best days are long gone but anyone coming through in the game might look at Sharks a bit more favourably than the next club.
