What is with these short dropouts? Like to see some metrics on outcomes, feel it’s a very low EV play. or players should aim for 15-25m rather than 10m

Other than the obvious upside of potentially getting the ball back, it's often easier to defend your own line rather than defend 20-30m out. If you tackle them inside the 10, you don't have to fall back as far (easier) and the attack has less room to work shape (easier).

Obvious downside of conceding 2 points though when you get it wrong
