Would be really tempted if I didn't already have so many WFBs.

Category 1 HIAs tonight would mean that a few players could miss Round 18 as well? Panthers, Storm, Rabbitohs lads probably sit inside that 11 day window?

I wouldn't be surprised to see him still getting 50 in 60 minutes.

Round 20 would be fine. 2 more games in 17 and 18 and then flick him during the bye.SaveTheCheerleader wrote:Cheese back round 20, Turpin minutes limited surely?
Might even have a low enough BE to be a hold in 20 if you have more pressing issues

Cheese himself said R18 on the James Graham podcast, but, yeah, Turpin made plenty of money and actually played R16, unlike Robson, so in retrospect would have been a great short-term trade in.

Slightly envious of those who stayed up to watch the cricket. If it didn't finish past 3am, I might have done the same

I'm mildly interested in Brimson too. He can tear it up fantasy wise, but he can also tear his hammies up. It's tempting to get him and Jed and I'll have 13 starters for round 19, but I know that will end up being around 10 when round 19 actually comes around.
I need two playable options this week as I only have 15 and that's with Robson. Hands is tempting but I wish there was an update on Hodgson.
Preston to Haas is also mildly interesting but Preston looking like keeper territory the last month.

People seem to be forgetting that Turpin was starting HOK the 2 rounds before Brandon was injured. Since then has played great in huge minutes.

I tend to agree here a little although you can't ignore those minutes came for Turpin due to Smith getting injured but I haven't looked at the games to line this up. When Smith is fit, I'm not sure if he instantly comes in and displaces Turpin right away. He's had his issues this year. I'm not saying Turpin is the preferred hooker, because he isn't but can see Smith coming off the bench for the first game at least.
Long story short, I don't think Turpin is an immediate concern as soon as Smith is back. Would definitely be one of those situations where you see how it plays out a least.

Maybe I’m too cynical but they are high profile origin players so even if that happens, they probably get an exemption to the 11 days and get to play anyway

Playing no, watching yes (a bit like golf)
TBH, I figure I have a finite amount of sports watching time and EPL & NRL seague nicely into each other over the course of the year.
Might get back into cricket when I retire

At the very least I would expect Smith to start off the bench, play some lock and some HOK, with Turpin still getting decent minutes.

Depends if they get diagnosed with concussion, was the only reason Turbo got an exemption.

i don't really care what happens with Turpin, but I like how you just decide this is what's happening, for.. reasons (ie you own him)

NRL physio went on a huge/interesting rant about this.
Basically in all other sports he’s aware of, cat 1 HIA is “you were concussed” and that was everyone (including one of his physio sources at a NRL club) interpretation. That is, cat 1 symptoms is a diagnosis. Now Turbo happens, and the NRL line is clarified as cat 1 HIA is “highly suspicious of a concussion”.
He thinks it opens a can of worms and I tend to agree. Clubs will be appealing Cat 1 HIAs if they can, media reporting and public sentiment will be even more confused, brings into question the point of independent doctors, and I reckon for some of these bigger games (origins, GF) they’ll end up arbitrarily reducing stand downs (which they’ve kinda done once or twice anyway eg Katoa and CNK earlier in the year
Tl;dr NRL has a bet each way and fucks it up
