TAKE THE FUCKING NEW BALL
Can only assume England want to win by 2 runs rather than 30 because Bazball
Edit: maybe *don't* take the new ball

Just not enough strike bowlers for England to finish this off. A younger Anderson or fit Stokes and it's done.

Good game. Cricket the winner. Well done Cummins, seems a likeable guy, unlike every other Australian captain in history. Would have been sad to see him go home with nothing, so a 4-1 series is fine

A lot are going to say the declaration cost England, but imo not taking the new ball earlier did it. Cummins went - let's not call it Bazball, let's just say white ball - against Root for an over and then England couldn't set attacking fields when they finally did get the new ball. Shitload of mistakes made and still got in position to win, leaves me confident for the series but it'll at least be interesting cricket whoever wins.

Great effort by Uzy, amongst our faltering top batting order.

Surely one of the best matches of all time. Both teams played great and put on a hell of a spectacle.
I must say of all the endless sports I've watched over the years nothing stresses me out more than a close finish in test match cricket. I was sweating profusely by the end.
There are of course so many great sports with mechanics that build stress as the result nears conclusion with perhaps penalty shootouts being the ultimate nail biters, but even in those you are only talking about a number of minutes of the highest stress.
It is amazing in test match cricket how you can spend hours with the game in the balance and know the result is always just 1 ball away from completely changing in an instant.
Having watched Australia seemingly lose most of these close finishes over a number of years now it was good for once to see Australia get the close win in England, I thought for sure they'd lose once Khawaja got out, full credit to Cummings and Lyon.
Having said all that I still feel like England will win the series, they gave away some of their wickets pretty cheaply to nothing balls and Australia's field placings were poor. Maybe it is just my negativity but I think they will smash Aus in a couple of games.

Australia won that game with the two best batsmen in the world doing nothing.
Promising signs if anything from my view, smith and Labuschagne will be scoring alot more runs than that through the series.

Having watched Joe Root all his career and then seeing him attempting to play a ramp shot 1st ball, is like King Charles trying to dance at a club.

It was reasonably surprising tactics. I don't think there was anything wrong with the declaration. It was a day one decision, the right call at the time, probably.
New ball did nothing anyway, so i can understand why they put it off. If anything Aus looked more comfortable. Root had looked reasonably dangerous until Cummins took him down.
I am surprised they stuck with the short pitch stuff for so long. Conventional off stump bowling with a tight field with 20 or 30 runs to go, I thought would have built pressure. As it was, Cummins and Lyon were so comfortable they were joking/smiling in between balls.
That shot from lyon over mid on though, what a shot. I guess that showed how easy batting was. Neither Cummins or Lyon really looked troubled against anything that wasn't short, to be fair.
Cricket hindisight, always a game of "ifs", impossible to say either way what would have happened if things were done differently. What played out was highly entertaining. Looking even more forward to attending Lords next week.
The bonus for Australia in a tight schedule is England bowled nearly a days worth more overs than Australia. Good for the Aus bowlers to remain fresh.

- TLDR:
Nah I didnt sell him haha, I think some people focus on my team more than I do haha
Best thing about being first is everyone gets to let me know how many trades left, how many playing and be critical of everything etc
Arrogant, humble, lucky, spreadsheets, damned if I do, damned if I don't
Just making a few gut calls and moving on
To be fair I barely look at the team, this time of year most of it is out of your control and I honestly dont have the time.
Same reason I didnt worry losing a heap of origin players last week or having some benched now.
I did oloapu and miller early but not that one and avoided a bunch load of shittos, in fairness I would rather keep Lem for a couple weeks
One injury or a late swap and you would be kicking yourself and wasting yet another trade on a centre
Perhaps swap with Bird in rd19 worst case if thats meant to be, see how his injury is going etc
The next 2 weeks really are just a weird holding period, teams are all over the place
After origin things should be clearer
Anyways its tough with not a lot of clear cheapies, the best players are in origin and then we get all these selection hand grenades
Tread water to get a solid full team and push shit to the following week I reckon
Brimson, hands, te whare perhaps for gambles?
No clear cut options so just roll the dice and move on
Wow, I didn't realise this was a thing.
I skipped back to R10 for my extremely brief liaison with rank 1, and yeah, I'm glad I didn't know that would mean my team gets reviewed - ranks up the pressure a bit eh!
JB was right about one thing in my review, Lane was a mistake - a real moment of madness triggered by Matto being a late withdrawal due to flu - ah the memories
