Bazball is the most exciting thing in Test cricket, but England just can’t keep getting away with it. Whatever happens, this match has been enthralling, a contest of two opposing styles and mentalities.

Imagine picking on Khawaja though. 141 or not, that’s like kicking a puppy.

Bazball is great for cricket. Focusing on getting a result and trusting that more of them will be wins than losses will be enough for England to win the series, even if they lose this game, *if* Australia don't adapt from the ultra-defensive old test style.
(I say that, but England have a pair of pensioner quicks, a mediocre spinner whose finger has practically fallen off, and an all-rounder on one leg, so it *might* not happen, so all this series will show is whether the old cricket is dead or just dying).
But the most important part of Bazball is that it's *entertaining*, whether it's two sides playing this way or the contrast of one of each. As long as it's not both sides batting for two days at three an over. Test cricket was on its arse and now it's not, whatever the result.
(And, no, England can't keep "getting away with it", but in this game they've made scores of mistakes, had multiple players in then out, have a poor bowling attack with a second-choice spinner who got injured, Stokes 30% fit, a gamble declaration that could have but didn't twork out, and bowling last rather than the more Baz-friendly chasing and the game is *still* in the balance in the last session.)

Oh Bazball is here to stay, I hope it catches on and a bunch of nations adopt it. But here and now it needs to be put down (though that wicket didn’t help our cause). Thats a nice showcase of excuses you have put out on display though, I will browse them at my leisure if we win this

Fairly rare for a team to score 400 in the first innings and lose though. Pitch was a belter from day one, and still good to bat on. Admittedly aus were a bit defensive on day one.
Anyway, its been a great test.
Love the way england are playing cricket. I just hate the term 'bazball'
Hopefully not all the pitches are this flat/dull.

That's the key. Aussies might not have noticed, but pretty much every test England have played under McCullum/Stokes has been great, and you could say that even if the results had gone the other way - which a lot of them could have.
Good RL link with Stokes too. His dad was NZ player Ged Stokes, who came to UK to coach Workington when Ben was a kid.

I think we'll see most pitches much like this, stokes has been pushing for it.

Funnily enough its been a bit frustrating how slow the aussies are batting. Opportunities to push a bit harder without a whole lot of risk over the last hour or two. Khawaja ends up falling just poking at a nothing ball
Eng were being pretty defensive too but now it swings back in their favour as we didnt take advantage

Maybe Stokes at 30% is enough
Commentator (Kumar Sangakkara) blaming "negativity" from Australia. Bit harsh, given Khawaja has single-handedly kept them in it.

especially given the top three batsmen in the test rankings managed 101 runs between them across both innings...
