Yeah, still have a nagging anti 'conventional wisdom' feeling on this one.

I think I'll let Garrick have a run and take a look at DCE.

Cleary WITHOUT Luai. Only 17 mins regular season for Penrith in the last 4 years. Scored 1. On track for 5 then.

Seriously though, is it enough uncertainty to think about Hynes?

Bearing in mind that until the 101 v 34 a few weeks back captaincy calls were probably a 50/50, maybe even slight edge to Hynes #recencybias

    Personally I'm thinking about it

Don't think Cleary can do more, he probably doesn't do less, but there's a chance.

Yeah I'm surprised, I wouldn't hesitate to play Garrick if I had him.

I think (hope) DCE will go well. If his forwards can get through their sets and then he can just kick the piss out of the ball.

It has crossed my mind this week.

Not with any real thought behind it in terms of reasons for Cleary to have an off week, reasons for Hynes to go really well etc but just as a POD play to try and finally jump back into top 10.

Last week the whole top 25 captained Cleary. Risky business of course but Hynes could go 80+ any given week without much surprise.

It's very unlikely I'll do it.

If I wasn't going to captain Cleary, you'd have to strongly consider SJ against the Tigers too.

I think I'm too much of a coward. Think would rather stay 50th than risk 100th to get 30th.

Closer look - Hynes only bad scores were 30s vs Dolphins, vs Panthers a few weeks ago. Otherwise it's like minimum 60.

Cleary is the 37 against Bunnies at start of year and a 51 vs Bulldogs.

Cleary probably the smart pick but its probably more a 1a vs 1b than 1 vs 2 like everyone is thinking now.

    I'd captain SJ before Hynes.

Most people leaving Garrick out are still going to play him if he scores well. I'd play Lemu over him if I couldn't loop. Fullbacks have generally been scoring like ass against Panthers (except Latrell), even with Cleary and others out.

    Latrell: 54 and 75 with a double
    Teddy: 15 and 51 with a try
    Ponga: 17 with a try
    TTrbo: 16 with a try
    Bula: 45
    Walsh: 33
    Guth: 32
    CNK: 29
    Meaney: 16 and 29

I was gonna loop Ramien by default, but have chucked Garrick in there instead. Not worried about DCE. Should get decent KMs and hopefully an attacking stat or two in the drubbing.

    I do agree.

The thing is Cleary has had three banners, so ceiling has been superior this year. If you go Hynes and then Cleary goes and banners you're stuffed. Would be a bloody hard watch tonight.

Way too much overthinking going on.

    Cleary is the obvious choice.

Hynes is also a good choice, minor balls

    Any other options, big balls.

    (C) Garrick.. crazy talk.

Its all about the vibe of the thing

Nice stats. Can't hurt chucking him in there I guess. Nothing worse than if he did a Manu on a Thursday night again. Not sure I could sleep with that happening again.

Yeah can't say I understand this diverting from Cleary talk. They're playing one of the worst teams in the comp (I'm a Manly fan so I get a pass for saying that). He should have a field day down Manly's left edge. No Luai so you'd think even more ball than usual should go through him.

    He's got a 106, 101 and 100

    Hynes has a 98, 95, 94

I don't think there's that much in it other than that everyone will be on Cleary so going Hynes is a risky play. But averages, ceiling, floor pretty similar IMO

Haven’t worked out whether I’ll loop Garrick or Edwards yet…. I’d usually say Garrick probs as FB don’t score well against Penrith but Edwards is carrying an injury….

Maybe I should get the wheel spinner out again….
