had a bit of a go at NRL grid - how do they determine the scoring? What makes an an answer less common than others?

I stuffed up the first grid by not noticing it was from 1998 onwards only, so missed out on one square with what would otherwise have been a correct answer.

I imagine it’s based on answers previously submitted

Very very early days but interesting to see again whether people start with Hynes or Cleary.

    Also the hooker position conundrum.

Hynes has bye early, Cleary doesn’t

    Edit Cleary Bye R6

Wasn't working for me at all yesterday but now is. Didn't go so well on todays, will try a few older. Now realised I have to pick the most obscure correct answer instead of the first one that pops into my head, so that'll help.

i like the idea, but i think it would be better if it was limited to the current/most recent season.

    Yeah its a bit hard.

Also with no time limit the leaderboard is almost certainly people looking stuff up. Maybe some with Rainman-esque qualities when it comes to NRL, but guessing mostly the former.

    My takeaways from the draw:

    * Start with Cleary, Haas and Grant. Do not sell them unless injured, they all have good bye schedules so can probably be held all year. This is especially true of Haas since he has no byes until Origin I

    * Don't start with any Storm players not named Grant, unless Howarth or Fa'alogo get starting spots.

    * Joey Manu is going to be a must-have over Origin, as usual - his draw from round 11-18 is really good and only misses one round in that (round 14)

    * The Dolphins are the only team that plays all three major bye rounds, so keep an eye on Isaako.

I've managed to get a few <1% answers but I think it would be really difficult to string a few together

The Origin players having byes while they were at Origin turned out bad for extra unexpected rests in other rounds

Haven’t look too intently into the draw, but it’s likely I’ll be at the Saturday Magic Round games(no pilgrimages to CBus or the Hunter), and I refuse to fall into any sort of T(r)apine early in the year.

From a footy perspective Tigers have a pretty unhelpful bye draw, by far the most useless

Dragons are missing Magic Round then? Surprised given that even tho we suck we also have one of the bigger Qld based fan bases on NSW teams, as well as a decent contingent of fans that will travel.

Souths were useful last year because they had byes so late, now they're useful this year as the first team (along with Titans again) to finish

One advantage of being so shit, is the Dragons have a decent amount of 3pm Sat, 530pm Sat and 2pm Sunday games. Which are actually good times to take the kids.

This morning I booked a couple of days at Southbank for Magic Round as prices are already insane!

But it's my Dad's 80th June 20 in Queensland, which fits in nicely coming from Perth to get to Melbourne Origin 26th June and Tigers at Leichhardt 15th June.

I'll probably cancel Magic Round as I've never been to the MCG.
