At that height, he will be a fringe second-rower before too long. He may or may not ever make his debut, and you are already smarter than the coaches?

I wish the kid all the best, but no one knows who will carve up in First Grade. In Moses' time at the Tigers, most people would have questioned their persistence with an erratic halfback who could not string two good games together.

I think an 8-year contract for Dylan Brown in his early 20s implies patience and sticking with talent.

I started with Ted last year at over 100k more and held all year… so he’s a discount now if anything. If Campbell is out then he’s still on the cards

Adding to this, same with Murray. Started at 905(?) last year and now under 800k

Have a draft atm with $0 in the bank which isn’t ideal but team looks pretty good. Could go Grant to Robson to free up bank for pivots

Who would you say had more irl drop off?
I had both as well, Murray has let a lot of laziness creep into his game, constantly playing for penalties and giving them away.
Teddy started horrible and seem to find a groove at the back end.

Not nearly enough talk about Wighton averaging 52 fantasy points and 200 metres per game at centre last year

By R11 of his debut season, he was averaging 70 fantasy points at almost 180 metres per game at CTR. There is a precedent. He is totally the next Talakai

Ted had a career low year but is historically mid 50 to low 60. Prob won’t reach 60 average again given age etc but wouldn’t surprise me if he is a top 3 wfb by year end. NSW point to prove, improving Roosters clicking etc

Murray had a rubbish mid year like the rest of Souths then picked it up at the end where he was a popular buy. I dumped him early on cause he kept passing instead of running and it paid off, but his base stats last year are actually an improvement on previous. His main issue last year was reduced ‘power’ stats like OL, tries, TA etc. He should Ave high 50s again but he has some value in him as opposed to Haas who is at peak, so Murray is the better buy if you’re looking for value on early season Imo

Can name a few successful Australian schoolboy captains.

This has moved a fair way from your initial premise that teams prefer to outsource junior development and buy back players at higher prices once they are established.

I mean that argument would explain why successful clubs like Panthers, Broncos, Storm and Roosters never invest heavily in 16yos and pathways

Yeah I've got Sivo in there currently. Hoping he could start strong and make a quick 100k before jumping to a fallen gun. Not a must have by any means, more of a gut feel type of thing.

Apparently Taumalolo has lost 5kg and in the best shape of his career and told by his coach to start offloading more

Haha, that's hilarious. I swear the journos have a list of articles on their calendars that they rehash on the same day every year. Still, like all former guns, it's worth watching how they look in the trials.

(But seriously I am aboard Wighton when he returns. Wonder if Graham’s injury also prompts more likelihood of DPP R1 despite suspension as he’s definitely guaranteed to play CTR now)
