Anyone getting Flegler (not me) is getting him for the first half of the season, not to be a keeper. He misses one game in that time, which is early in the season and should be easy to cover. You might lose 20 points out of his byes, if you think he has enough upside over the other options (again, not sure I do) then the fact he plays Origin isn't relevant because as a stepping stone to a gun rather than a gun himself he'll be gone by then.

I realise he was denied a visa but if he is also unfit/not in South's plans would that not potentially open Jacob Gagai up until Munro returns assuming he is selected over Kennar? Feel like I must be missing something re Gagai

A few risks to Gagai holding that spot.

    1. Thompson couldnt go to USA
    2. Milne
    3. Wighton return could push Kennar to that wing
    4. Munro back soonish, pretty sure I saw R3 or 4 somewhere?

I am all for taking a risk on a player, but no point taking a risk on a guy who has limited upside potential - averages 29 in NSW Cup - and poor job security.

Would be a different story if the guy in question was Iro (48 average), instead of a guy who happens to be the brother of a gun player. I think the name halo is also alive and well in the Burbo selection.

    Cleary, Hutch
    Penisini, Burbo
    Turbo, Pap, Rapana

    Luki, Lussick, Flanagan, Salmon

    Strange, Hughes, Gagai, Mikaele

I'd be cautious with Gagai. He will likely only get the one week. Thompson couldn't get a Visa and couldn't get into the US, otherwise he would be there instead of Gags.

You are locking in a trade that other options don't require in a similar price bracket. If Tups or Wong are averaging 50, they don't need to be traded out and gives you a player for the first 2 major byes.

It is the equivalent of having a player with a guaranteed injury leading into R13.

Iro has a name halo too for us Gen Xers.

TY I really didn't want him to begin with so that's the push I need to go rework!

Yep, his father and uncle were awesome players. Iro looks like he can be another gun, just needs an opportunity.

rabbits21 does not like his job security he could only play this round & in reserve grade apparently his stats aren't that flash...rabbits21 said do not buy
they have also promoted this young winger blaize talagi into the top 30 & he has big wraps on him & there is some talk he could possibly be the winger rd. 1.

He started more expensive, taking up cap room, they don't need to average as much to have the upside. If they are getting 45, they don't need to be traded out until after the 2nd major bye round. Despite scoring well, Flegler still needs to be traded out.

The Tupoinua dual is so handy for those major byes too. I found last season that they are fantastic to be able to play in one position that works for one bye, then in the other position for the next bye.

I think any base price starting forward (regardless of job security) available at centre is going to be popular whatever their name is

Quick reminder that its round 1 and picking or not picking players based on origin period is bad strategy
