For the most part. Only question marks for today are Turbo and Cheese, and I don’t exactly expect either of those to flop terribly (over the course of a single game).

I'm captaining Haas and vice captaining Teddy, don't like the idea of having a mil of the cap locked away if Cleary gets an injury this week, as unlikely that is.

With minimal bank, and some slight overthinking that Robbo could do something different, I’ve taken the VC of Haas, in case I had to make some changes while the first game was still being played.

I'm chill with everything, besides my call to take Piakura over Luki.

I think it's a mistake, and that Luki will score better. It also goes against my rule of grabbing all cheap starting edges.

But Piakura is mildly injured and not amazingly good... also good fade against the herd.

Despite not having Haas, I am expecting him to score well in the game conditions today. Will just ignore what he does today, knowing a single round won't make his season.

I'm in the same boat bro. Haas will likely go big today and was tempting to pull my team apart to fit him in but just got to accept missing one big score as a necessary part of following my strategy. I have a feeling the number of players I have in this round could throw up an issue or two come next week and may need the extra money to amend my team. Just going to enjoy the league today fuck it

Yeah, selecting Piakura today doesn't mean that you can't get Luki next week, pending team lists. I will be amazed if most of us stick to our current teams, when the shit hits the fan in different areas next week, that we weren't expecting.

It's a fine line and a lot of the time, I think PODing is overated.
When player ownership percentages are so high, I would much rather be part of the pack. If it fails, at least you've failed with the pack and likely wont lose much in the way of standing/rankings.
The exception to this would be someone like Haas, where going against the pack allows WAY more cash flexibility to strengthen the rest of your roster. Theres also plenty of mid alternatives who could theoretically reach the same heights as Haas but for cheaper.

Essentially, PODing can work out in your favour but the safer option is to follow the pack and fail/succeed together.
The Amateurs did a really good break down of this, allocating it as a percentage breakdown and it very clearly shows the stats favour following the herd.

I think the main point that isn't made enough in these discussions is that going with the pack is usually the right thing to do because the pack is more often than not correct. All the square things with good bad outcomes etc I think are rubbish and try to quantise a decision too much by giving equal weighting to the different combinations. Trying to be different just to be different is where you get lost in the weeds.

I think there's also an interesting phenomenon now with the proliferation of information sources where these sources tend to skew the selections of teams despite these content creators not actually being particularly better at the game than a lot of their listeners. That's why this forum is so powerful, you get a back and forth and ideas can be challenged and discussed.

Having said that I don't think you can win without making some moves that the crowd doesn't, case in point Booze jumping off Millar early, grabbing Gutherson over the bye rounds etc. These weren't high percentage (in terms of popularity) trades but they really really paid off.

Thanks @mattzn and @Loomer - my point was in response to Camo's note about being happy with the team.

I like all of them (TLT1B shenanigans noted matt), apart from maybe Piakura.

Cheers anyway - undoubtedly next week's problem!

I am expecting Smithies to be the big POD call that comes off for most of the forum here, at just 1.4% ownership.
