Same, but my risk tolerance is fairly low. You won't find me choosing a player whose role is not secure. With that said, he would've been a great short term punt (with some long-term upside).
How could we have known he'd play so well in the first two rounds though?
This is pretty accurate.
I also struggle picking guys with low job security or bench roles like Curran as well and it burns me so hard.

His defense is shocking.
I was very surprised they chose to give him a go after witnessing it in the trial

Was hard - high 500s K and gets asked to play bunch of centre and interchange but looks a mainstay these days. Surely. Should prove to be as good a pick as Hopgood it seems

Lucky Fogarty has goal kicking. He'd be scoring pretty poorly without it

Well that looks far more promising anyways for this Galvin over this shower of shit I have on my bench belting out high 20s

Galvin, Bula, Fainu, Staines, Toa, Pole
Good bunch of youngsters to build a club around. Just gotta stick with the good ones and cut the duds. Guys like Klemmer, iPap, Bateman and Api will be good leaders. I can see a bright future, give it time.

Same reason as others with Whitehead slated to return in a few weeks. Couldn't have known he'd play as well as he has, always a gamble

I said that last week. What does Whitehead offer that Hosking doesn't? Other than a bit of "leadership" and other intangibles like that, I don't think he offers anything above Hosking. I can see Hosking cementing himself just like Horse did last year. Just be so good you can't be dropped.
Hosking's been fantastic with the ball (against the Tigers). Their first try was his fault though, which is the sort of thing Ricky notices. Stick also incredibly loyal to his old guys (like Croker) so would be really surprised if Whitehead doesn't come back in, with Hosking a weapon from the bench. If that's a few weeks away though, Hosking will still have made a lot of points/money.

I would have dropped Smithies for him. Smithies hasn't been bad, but really should have gone Hosking instead

Nothing like a game against the Tigers to get half your team moving in price
